my husband and i went to julian forest in september
arrived 24th september after a long delay sud have arrived 23rd sept!!
asked for a room with mountain view and after 24 hrs asked to be moved due to loud generator.we were moved straight away given choice of 2 different rooms
we decided to go for pool view on 3rd floor with was great.rooms were perfect besides twin beds!
food was great so many choices decided to go for fleixidine for 8 days
have heard hotel is going half board from next year
the hotel photographer did a great job on takiing photos beside the pool at nite and did a brill album which we were very pleased with
entertsinment was not all that good but they did make an effort
other reviews said that there was a british emtertainment team there but we never saw any of them beside the 2 that were trying there best to keep every one busy
there was also no sign of any pool party, maybe it was due to the fact that is coming to end of season
kids have mini disco but only seen that take place a few times as well
bit concerned as we were going to bring our grandkids next year
beside everythink its a lovely hotel

Having read many reviews prior to arriving we were expecting great things from this hotel albeit with some concern over the wasps as we were travelling with young childen. However, whilst we enjoyed our holiday overall in our opinion Julian Forest is not as great as we were led to believe. Yes the hotel has many positives but from our experience there were also some serious negatives which need to be addressed.

First the good points:
1. The scenery is simply breathtaking and for those seeking a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle this hotel is ideal
2. Some of the staff are excellent, notably Shrek who seems to have boundless energy on a daily basis and tries really hard to provide daily poolside entertainment for those who want to participate
3. The hotel room was very good. We had the larger room which slept 6 and had 2 bathrooms
4. The BBQ night is a must and the food was of a very high standard. We chose not to take the flexidine as we prefer to venture out and try different restaurants but we did try the BBQ on both occasions during our stay and it was superb.

Now for the bad points!
1. We had the misfortune to have some items go missing from our hotel room and when we requested to view the CCTV that the hotel claim provides a secure environment we were told that by sheer coincidence the CCTV had not been working for the exact period for which we requested to view! Whilst the items were not of great value this was nevertheless a very poor response and left a bad taste in the mouth for us.
2. Whilst the slides were an excellent facility for our kids to enjoy the hotel really needs to provide supervision to avoid a potential serious accident. There are signs clearly stating that all children should be supervised and the rules that apply to the slides but these were blatently ignored by most kids. It was clear that for some parents they view these slides as a way of getting some peace and quiet from their kids to allow them to continue sitting on their lazy backsides around the pool. As a result there were kids using inflatables on the slides, climbing up the slides and also staying within the landing area. Whilst we were there one child (his parents were notable by their absence!) hurt himself quite badly after using an inflating on the slide. I did point out the fact that the slides should be supervised to both the person who opened the slides and reception but they just weren't interested.
3. The wasps are a nightmare particularly for familes with small children. All my kids were stung at least once. Whilst this is not the fault of the hotel people need to be aware that certainly in September they are a real problem and they seemed to congregate around the childrens pool in great numbers. We got sick of having to get rid of wasps in the pool and were constantly having to really watch where we were walking to avoid standing on them.
4. I got an ear infection from the pool which from reading previous reviews and the fact that the hotel provides details of 'swimmers ear' in their welcome pack must mean that this is a regular occurrance. If so why don't they test the water more often and address this issue. I have never had ear infections from any previous hotel pools.
5. There is a kids club run by the hotel and whilst they try very hard the activities are limited and from previous experience of kids clubs run by Thomson and Thomas Cook it is not as good. If you are staying for two weeks the kids may become a little bored.

Overall the hotel was good but I do feel that many people really go over the top in their reviews. Whilst I would recommend the hotel we would not stay here again but in fairness we prefer to try different places when holidaying. However, if you are travelling with young children I would suggest that you visit earlier in the year when the wasps are not as prevalent.

In terms of eating out we would highly recommend Venice, Majestics and Chef. They provide a free pick up service from Julian Forest and were excellent for families with young kids. The food was also excellent both in terms of quality and value.

One final point which people need to be aware of is the long tranfser time to and from the hotel to Dalaman airport. It took 3 hours on the outward journey as Julian Forest is the last drop off.

We would certainly recommend Icmeler as a resort. The local people are really friendly and with it being much smaller then Marmaris it is ideal for families with young children. We didn't go to the beach simply because of the hotel location.

The apartments are located near breathtaking scenery at the rear of Icmeler and close to the old part of the town. The complex is equipped with everything you need.
Rooms are air-conditioned with balcony and cleaned daily.
There are 3 pools which were superb, and whatever time of day, there were plenty of sunbeds available.
Entertainment was good, and people were encouraged to participate in everything going on.The staff of the entertainment section are the best in Icmeler as all 10 of us in our party agree, especially "Shrek",Bekir, and Beyza who worked all day and night keeping us entertained.
Service at the restaurant ,bar and snack bar by Vahit, Hakan and Gizem was second to none.If I had a Hotel and restaurant I would certainly want these people working for me.Nothing was too much trouble for them and they had an excellent rapport with the guests.Food at the hotel was very good.We opted to take out the flexidine system for 7 days out of the 14 we were there. This worked out around £16pp for 2 meals a day and evening dinner was 4 courses.
The only negative against this this hotel is the price of their drinks which are very expensive. All the short drinks cost around 14 turkish lire which is around £6.25 and if you wanted a dash of lemonade, coke, or blackcurrent etc, it would cost another 1/1/2 tukish lire(70 pence). The hotel quietened down around 8pm every night although the entertainment was good. We were asked if we knew why this was happening. We informed the hotel that most guests were leaving and going into Icmeler because the cost of drinks in town were half the price of the hotel. I hope they do, but don't know if they will take onboard the feedback they got from us guests.
Apart from the cost of drinks, this hotel cannot be faulted in any way and we will definately return in the near future to a lovely lovely place

I would thoroughly recommend this Hotel. Everything was really good.
The only comments we would make were that breakfast could have had an alternative to the full breakfast range - there was no fruit or cereal on offer if you didn't want a heavy meal.
The other problem was the loud, thump, thump music by the pool every day which was obviously favoured by the entertainments guy and more suited to 18-30 age group and not the people who were by the pool.
There was also a problem with wasps in this location which apparently is only at this time of year and was not a problem earlier in the year.
Other than that we had a very enjoyable stay

the attractive looking apartments are situated close to the pine foresest at the north end of the resort.arriving in the early hours,we were greeted by friendly staff and check-in was done quickly and efficiently.the room was clean and contained everything needed for self catering(cups a bit small).the pool area is clean and tidy and is next to a large restaurant area.flexi-dine is a must for value for money.only cloud is that every selection of meals comes with the same vegtables(still nice).all the restaurant and bar staff were efficient and friendly and special thanks to hakan demir and gizem ogog.hairdressing, beauty treatments and a shop all available.i will be booking for next year.

just got back from a 2 week stay at julian forest, it was fantastic, the staff were very friendly, they really go out there way to make sure you have a great holiday, everybody from maids to entertainment, management, it was brilliant, the place was spotless, food on the flexi dine was unbelievable, they feed you as if you are a yank, oversized portions and absoloutley delicious, the weather was brilliant, theseapartments have evrything you need on site (some things a little pricey ) the only downfall to this holiday was the wasps , and the location , just a little too far out the way, we enjoyed a couple of boat trips and long strolls down to the resort centre about 50 minutes by foot and about 10 minutes by dolmus, which run from7 in the morning right through til about 1 in the morning, if you are thinking of going , take a stroll down the back street and over to the old little village, the locals were lovely and very polite, if you are travelling with kids they have a great little kids club , and very safe also , we had a great time, well recommend this complex , thanx a million to all the guys who made this a memorable trip x x x x x
