Well what can I say except it lived up to more than I expected even after reading the good reviews on here. I wasn't too keen on going to a place like Turkey and had no idea which part of Turkey I wanted to visit apart from I didn't want it smelly, locals pestering you, somewhere average to put our heads down etc. Wanted a lively night out but not your usual folk falling around and fighting drunk.
The hotel was excellent, very clean and staff all very pleasant and helpful. We didn't spend alot of time at the hotel although everytime the staff seen us they would chat away and be very pleasant. Never once hassled us to eat at the hotel or drink at the bar. Room was one of the few that didn't overlook the pool and had a balcony you couldn't stand on but was ideal for drying towels and footwear. The bed consisted of two singles pushed together which was more than adequate and quite comfortable for us.
Ovacik was the resort the hotel itself was in and only a 5min walk up a small hill to reach the bars and restaurants. This was pretty quite when we decided to go here although the local bus pases through every 5mins going in both directions. Very cheap.
Hisaronu was the better of the places to go if you ask me. About 10mins walk to the right of the hotel mostly flat. This is where most of the bars/clubs/restaurants/shops are. Restaurants are relatively cheap and very good food, T-Bone with trimmings for around £10. Most nights 3 course with drinks was costing us around max £30 for two. Never really seen a drunk falling around at all. I'd recommend walking down the middle of the street (closed to cars etc) as you have the usual ppl trying to invite you to their bar etc. The people are really really friendly even more so if you buy something from them or even give them some of your time.
Excursions...if you shop around you will get good deals, although haggling is the way forward :) they are all roughly the same price.
Take the dolmus to Olu Deniz, shingle beach so beach shoes are a must! It is a little more expensive here but not much so buy all your beach stuff in Hisaronu an take it with you.
Fethiye we found quite boring but more commercialised...Burger King, McDonalds etc. Only went for the market which was clothes, spices and vegetables.
Our favourite bar in Hisaronu was the Oh Yes! bar on the right hand side as you walk down the road. Always a great nite!
Would definately go back here :) but take English Sterling...wouldn't even bother changing to Lira lol EVERYTHING is listed in pounds and lira as second currency haha
