Lovely small hotel, only 40 or so rooms. The pool area and bar were immaculate, as were the rooms. We only stayed B&B, which was basic standard Turkish Breakfast buffet but we did attend the hotels Turkish night with food served, which was very nice. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the main street leading into Fethiye and Olu Deniz but we took taxi`s whenever we wanted to go to the beach or town and they worked out as cheap as the bus service as we had 5 children with us. The owners and staff at the hotel were extremely friendly, they loved the children and nothing was too much trouble for them. This was our first time in Turkey but certainly not our last, we will be going back again!!

We have just returned from a week's B & B at the Celay Hotel. Most of the details have already been covered by others, and it's true that there was no hot water except between 4 p.m. & 9 p.m.. There was also no soap in the shower, but then we weren't paying Ritz prices. The room was clean and had a balcony, the shower was powerful, and there was a hairdryer & cupboard. We didn't need air conditioning, but it would be worth paying for in high summer. It's a bit of a walk to the main road (to catch the dolmus into Hisaronu/Olu Deniz), but so what? I had a small torch with me & ate all the figs from the trees along the way!
Although we only ate here one evening (the Turkish night, with the very insistent belly-dancer!) the food was fine, and others who were on half-board said it was delicious, & only £6 a night to upgrade from B & B.
We ate at different restaurants every night, & our favourite was the 3 Cheers, just a walk away on the main road towards Hisaronu. One of the few restaurants serving proper Turkish food, not adding the dreaded chips to every dish (which we hate). Every other place (including the Celay) has the music too loud, and they all play too much loud "music", which isn't conducive to eating.
The contributor "Foxymorgan" is quite wrong about Ayten, the Celay's lady owner. Ayten didn't tell her that "Holidays4U" had gone bust, it was actually a Turkish holiday company who failed to pay, and Foxymorgan needed to claim the amount back from her insurance, not blame the Celay Hotel for her woes. Why did Foxymorgan expect the Celay to bear the cost of her overseas phone call?
We found both Ayten and Celal pleasant and efficient, which is all we want. Some of the guests were pretty loud, and tried to be over-friendly with the staff, who probably just want to get on with their jobs, not flirt & be teased by guests.
We didn't like Hisaronu much, too many fat tattoo'd shaved-headed tourists stuffing themselves with greasy English breakfasts. You can use sterling in all the shops, so take a calculator because the shop-keepers are adept at changing from Turkish lira to pounds in an instant. The market in Hisaronu has all the usual imitation-designer rubbish, watches, t-shirts etc. if you want it, & don't mind being hassled.
The turkish bath is fun (wear a bikini if you're female), & the boat trips are good value, although you need extra money for some of the stops (e.g. Butterfly valley and St. Nicholas's island) which no-one tells you when you book. We used "Gravity" company to book ~ only £7 including a good lunch on board, & transport to & from the Celay!
The small restaurant/hotel on the first road down from the Celay called "Sindrella" has excellent & cheap food any time of the day, & a genial host (Ali) who's a good pool player!
Don't order soup from the Turtle Bar, it's only home-made on Sunday, otherwise it's straight out of the packet, as the young waiter proudly showed me!
We didn't think it was worth the entrance fee to go to the beach at Olu Deniz (not to mention 18 lira for 2 sun-beds!) as the public beach is better anyway ~ blue & clear, whereas the lagoon was a bit green & smelt of river-water.
The mountain scenery & weather were perfect, & we hope to return next year.

Third year for us at the Celay Hotel and once again a fantastic holiday.A very warm welcome from Ayten and Celal again. The view from our room was fantastic. We decided to go half board this year and were more than happy with the food.Home made soups all great tasting a variety of English and Turkish food all very good.We celebrated our birthdays at Celay again this year and were given five star treatment.Flowers all around our room birthday cake and rose petals on our table at dinner that night.Horan as ever the happy smiling barman. We will most definatley be back at the Celay again next year.Nothing is to much trouble for any of the staff at Celay.

set in a beautiful place. lovely staff. rooms where a bit small but would still love to stop there again. it is very well maintained and kept spotlessly clean. only a 15 min walk into to town. or a couple of mins in a taxi or bus. plenty of bars restraunts just down the road which also offer excellent service. also excellent views from and around the hotel.

First visit to Turkey in a hotel recommended by Travel Operator who had stayed here. The hotel management and staff could not have been more helpful. The Celay has a relaxed friendly feeling to it. The people who stayed at the hotel during our visit were all friendly and the atmosphere around the pool in the day was very good. In the evening people mixed and chatted around the poolside bar.
It is easy to travel from the hotel by minibus or taxi to a variety of places. The beach at Blue Lagoon was very enjoyable. The 4 Island Boat trip from Fethiye was excellent value.
Evening restaurants are a 5-10 minute stroll with plenty of choice and helpful staff.
We will visit the Hotel Celay and Ovacik again.
Thanks to Chris and Ruth And the girls for making The Turkish Night a brilliant start to our Holiday. Barry.
