There are three self-catering units. They sleep 2, 6 and 9 people which means "quiet and peaceful" very much depends on your neighbours. That's why I would only recommend it if you are a large party or at off-season times for Barley's Barn.
The place is really clean and the proprietors do a lot to keep it that way. There is a huge hamper upon arrival which is a nice gesture. However as we knew it was self-catering we brought stuff along and would have preferred not to have to pay for this via the rent.
The place has changed hands this March and the new owners/staff are still getting in the swing of it.
What definitely has to be improved is the open and closure of the windows in the roof on the gallery. At present it means you have to climb a ladder on an uneven floor with the prospect to falling down the stairs or over the banister to the ground floor.
You need to be aware that internet and mobile phone is virtually in-existent in Northern Norfolk and that dog-walking is a totally different ballgame in England than on the continent.
This is the perfect place for an extended family holiday. 14 of us spent a week here, 8 adults ranging from 19 to 61 & 6 kids, ranging from 6 months to 8 years (3 generations)
We rented all 3 barns which suited us perfectly. Corner Barn was great for my 2 older daughters, partners & 5 older grandkids, while we shared Owl Barn with our youngest daughter & youngest granddaughter. My son, who is single, had Baileys Barn to himself, which he thought was fantastic, somewhere to escape the mayhem
Louise & Ted were the perfect hosts, they live next door & couldn't do enough to make sure everything was perfect, but they weren't pushy or intrusive. The welcome basket is a fantastic idea, providing all the basics needed for the first night.
The barns were beautifully presented and extremely spacious. Corner Barn easily accommodated all 14 of us at meal times & in the evenings
Outside there are courtyards to each barn, but they are only separated by pergolas, so the children could run round to their hearts content all day. In the open barn there's a fridge, a freezer & laundry facilities + a ping pong table & other games
The location is great, being just a few miles from lovely beaches, kids activities, shops, pubs and so on
All in all a fabulous place to stay, in fact we're planning on repeating the experience next year and try and see all that we didn't have time to see this year
Highly recommended by the Fairclough, Walsh & Hardie families
