This was one of the best meals I have had in an English restaurant for some considerable time. My (female) friend & I spend a few days in Norfolk each year, & we returned, after a couple of year's break to Bolton's Bistro, & we were very glad that we did! There is quite a bit of banter, so you do require a sense of humour, but the food was superb!
The lemon sole was unbelievable! One to try, without a doubt. Compliments to the chef, but also the maître d' , who has been there in all the years we have been going - a cheeky chappie, in the nicest possible way!
It was a bit noisy because there was a party of golfers in, but they are regulars & were certainly bringing in more money than the 2 of us.

Had lovely cauliflower soup for starters followed by a prawn and crayfish salad. Really top class. The soup was the best soup i have ever eaten.

Had a lovely meal here. Lobster and crab were really nice and the roast chicken filled the plate with no space for the delicious veg. Service was so fast we weren't expecting the food to arrive so quickly. Staff friendly. Recommended.

I had whole grilled plaice as a main course and it was absolutely delicious. We had a lot of fun with our waiter too who was very attentive and made us very welcome. Thanks!

We had a couple of very nice dishes to start - the smoked eel and dressed crab - and the lobster main courses were fine (although their interpretation of Thermidor sauce seemed to consist of a large dollop of melted cheddar flavoured with mustard. The wine we chose (Californian Chardonnay) was inexpensive and enjoyable if unremarkable. The service was however completely unacceptably slow. We were asked for a drinks order about 15 minutes after we sat down and it didn't improve thereafter. The comedy highlight was when a staff member appeared with cutlery for our starters after they had already been consumed and cleared away. At the end, after asking two different people for the bill without success, we stood up and paid at the counter. Not recommended.
