We had a lovely stay in the Wellington over a weekend while my husband fitted stained glass windows to a local Cromer landmark. The situation, a minute from the seafront, was fabulous and at a terrific price per night of £50 (in March). Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the cheerful welcome extends from the owners through to the bar staff and breakfast chef. It's essentially a pub with accommodation but the bedrooms are in a separate 'wing' (so no noise issues) and are refurbished to a very high standard with bateau beds, plantation shutters and crisp linen. Nice touches like cafetieres in the room and organic local sausages at breakfast. (BTW The mechanical toilets mentioned in another review were no trouble: the noise is more low growl than 747, and lasts five seconds.)

I am amazed that none of the other reviewers have mentioned the plumbing! The bathrooms have mechanical toilets so when you flush, it sounds like a 747 taking off in the middle of the night. So when you neighbours flush at 3am, you will be wide awake too. Also, it is very common for the waste of the room next door to find its way into your toilet bowl. The room was fairly clean, but sitting on the loo I could see how the undersides of the basin were coated in the toothpaste of previous guests. Yuk.
The food at breakfast was good quality. However, we detest having to serve our own tea (teabag in a cup, hot water in a flask!) and coffee . The toaster, which you operate yourself, is very temperamental. No fruit or yoghurt available. We definitely won't stay here again.

I'm so sorry that your stay with us was not too your liking!
Unfortunately our rooms are unable to have direct waste pipes to the streets, which is why we use saniflows. They are a Little noisy, but we have not had any complaints about waste coming in from other rooms in the twenty years we have been using them!
Our breakfast is self serve, as you find in most hotels. But we find this better for the customer as you can refill tea, coffee and toast to your hearts content! I will speak to our house keeper regarding your complaint of the toothpaste, but am very suprised as they are normally spotless!
Its a shame you didn't come and speak to any of the staff as they would of been willing to help with any problems.

We stayed at this pub/b&b for one night. As we walked in the pub we were greeted with a huge cheery hello, before the lady even new we were booked in. Having read great reviews already we were not disappointed. The room apparently having been part of an old fishermans cottage was finished to a very high standard. We heard no noise from the bar below as some reviews mentioned. That said it was out of season and quiet. The breakfast was fantastic in a lovely setting, and all the staff were super attentive and friendly. I have one small gripe, but is not a direct fault of the owners but more my own situation. As an allergy sufferer there was a super strong smell of air fresher in the halls and rooms which was so strong I had trouble sleeping with itching. That said it meant I opened the window and enjoyed listening to the sea as I drifted in an out of sleep. Other than that a faultless stay, and would recommend to anybody to stay here. Probably one of the genuinely friendliest places I have stayed at. Thank you

Just returned from a wonderful break at this Pub, breakfast was delicious every morning in 'The Courtyard Restaurant' bedroom was really comfortable and although above busy pub was perfect for a short break to Cromer. Parking not available on site but found free parking nearby. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly.

My wife and I stayed at the Wellington on a 4-night long weekend at the end of Jan. and start of Feb. 2014. ( Not usually the best weather at that time of year for a seaside stay , but it was kind to us the time we were there.) The owners and staff at the pub were truly friendly and helpful , always happy to give advice and made us feel very welcome. We stayed in room 1 on the first floor , and although above the bar down below , it was not noisy. We were given a side-door key to access our room outside bar opening times (11 -11.) The pub is just a minute walk to the pier and promenade , great for a walk anytime. Close to many shops and cafes etc. We had the bed and breakfast , and the freshly cooked food was just right. Our room , immaculate with nice comfortable beds. All in all , a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Steep stairs , so if they are a problem .. go for the first-floor rooms.

Whilst on a day trip to Cromer, we decided to have lunch in "The Courtyard Restaurant" - part of the Wellington Pub. Easy to miss this great little secret tucked away round the corner across the courtyard from the bar entrance. But rather glad we found it.

The staff were extremely welcoming, the service first class and the food very good. I decided to have the "Liver and Bacon" with mash. Liver is always a bit of a gamble in pubs, but it was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. For a cold January day, it was quite busy so clearly popular, and now we know where it is will definitely return.
