The hotel is in an excellent location and the staff are pretty friendly. Our room was beautiful(number41) and the view was amazing. Left feeling relaxed and happy. The only down side was the breakfast, there wasn't much of the full cooked option, and what we did have was very disappointing. However the overall experience was lovely, and we would return.

Cromer has the feel of a rather tired Victorian seaside, a welcome change from the neon, amusement arcaded ‘With it’ resort.
My previous experience of Norfolk was restricted to the broads and I found the seaside element very relaxing.
We stayed 4 nights in the Cliftonville Hotel .
The rooms were spacious, well appointed and with most having a sea view ideal for a break.
The breakfast was poorly run. You do not expect at their rates to have run out of oranges, bananas and yogurt, the selection on offer was generally poor, tinned grapefruit and prunes were a poor selection (Grape fruit is a no-no for takers of Warfarin) there was mixed fruit salad on one day, Sunday.
In fairness the kippers passed all the tests and were the best I have ever tasted.
On the second day I had a word with the head waiter to point out that used plates from cereals and main courses were piling up on peoples tables and should be cleared to give guests room to use their side plates.
In fairness it was taken on board and the problem did not happen again for the remainder of the stay.
A little tightening up and training would work wonders here.

I will review the dining experience separately as it was much better than the rest of the stay and it is difficult to grade the whole hotel as unit.

We've been staying here during our annual trip to attend the Cromer Carnival week for the last 13 years now. Prime position along the front, all rooms have a sea view and the food is good quality, local and fresh and plentiful........just wish we could stay for longer. As a mixed group of grand-parents, parents, teenagers and young children with differing needs, we are well looked after by the staff.

Our 9th August Bank Holiday visit to the Cliftonville as a group. Some rooms have been refurbished, and we now have WIFI so we were in contact with the world as phone reception is notoriously poor. We took our dog Stanley, a Great Dane, this time, it is a very dog friendly hotel as there were a few others about, but don't get it wrong it's not a kennel and all were very well behaved. Food was very good, with a wide selection of breakfast fare - toast is served first so you can eat it with your bacon and egg, not just your marmalade, and even your marmite if you're a lover. We had two toddlers in our party and they were catered for very well, nothing was too much for chef, even a pancake and lemon and sugar for main meal in the Westcliffe room on a Sunday evening. If you hate cold plates for your food this is definitely the place for you, everything comes piping hot on suitably temperatured crockery, but not the salads you'll be pleased to know. There were more people for dinner in the main dining room, but Bolton's Bistro still takes the majority of the dinner trade. All in all another great weekend, some of the best Guinness I have tasted, and we will return next year for visit number 10.

The hotel and staff were all very good. We arrived on carnival day, so it was very busy but the atmosphere was really fun. We had a wonderful room (7) with spectacular views over the sea to the pier and a very nice bathroom. Breakfast was lovely (why do they always bring out toast first instead of last!!) The Bistro served up an excellent meal, making use of locally sourced ingredients. Bar prices are a bit pricey, but it was carnival day after all so probably to be expected. All in all a good stay in a quintessentially English seaside town.

Just returned from 2 nights at The Cliftonville during Carnival week. All staff were very helpful and friendly. I had a single room which are so often afterthoughts but this one ad a fab sea view and had been newly refurbished. There was also a lovely sea view. The room was a bit hot and it was hard to cool down with only one window able to be opened. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room well equipped. The food was plentiful and breakfast was delicious. We ate early one night in the bar which was excellent value for money and one night in the bistro which was a little overpriced with limited options for someone with dietary requirements. All in all though we had a very good and very comfortable stay.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view and for one of the refurbished rooms.
