We love this hotel and stay regularly - we spent last new years eve there and it was amazing, the food is always out of this world (including the Bistro which even if you're not staying there is worth going to for a great meal out). The rooms are clean, warm with great views but the thing that sets apart the Cliftonville from anywhere else is the staff. They make us feel welcome every time we go and are always so friendly and helpful. Top tip - their Cromer crab sandwiches - to die for mmmm.
No hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. It's even dog friendly (apart from in the restaurant or Bistro)

My parents used to eat here 20+ years ago when staying in their caravan close by and I was not keen to stay in an old fashioned hotel but seeing the price of so called boutique hotels, this one is very good value. It is a BIT more modern and the staff were great. We had a room on top floor with super views of sea (once I had cleaned the salt off the windows) I know it comes back quickly but it is one of the selling points!!. Shower small but ok. NO LIGHT OVER THE MIRROR - AGAIN. What is it with hotels - dont any of their staff shave???
Food plentiful - too much - they could save a fortune with proper portion control. Someone is not checking the kitchen (my son in law runs a high class restaurant in a 5 star hotel and this is critical). We had 3 evening meals and we could find fault with all of them. Starters too big (whole crab!!) Pasta/ fish main with the tomato sauce killing the fish. TOO MUCH gravy and sauce on the pork and plaice - not subtle. Creme brule was huge, like twice usual size.
You can eat well but its not fine dining.
background music is a CD of the night but keeps on playing and if you dont like 60s revival - tough. I suggested a CD [player with mp3 player input on random play as the best option. They apparently had one but it broke and the new one doesnt have mp3 input. Sorry to sound techie but it shows management not up to the job.

AND GET RID OF THE HORRIBLE OLD OLD OLD PRINTS ON THE WALLS. Its 2011.

First thoughts of walking into the hotel had a strong smell of urine, service was rude at checking in desk. Decor was like being in the 60's. Was told on the phone the wrong price, and for what we paid i was discgusted for what we got.

Throughly enjoyed our short-break, with exceptional service and food. our dogs relly enjoyed their walks and hotel supplied dinners.
Small niggles in that certain areas are a little "tired" with worn carpets etc. also the bathroom (room21) had an unusual configuration in that a sideways shuffle was needed to reach the toilet and washbasin, but heyho it is "crab country!"
Will go again.

Nice, friendly hotel with great staff. Could do with a bit of money spending on it but times are tough. Very nice restaurant and great breakfasts. Close to town centre and all amenities.
