“A very friendly welcome guaranteed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2011

We spent 2 nights at the Virginia Court Hotel on a B&B basis (KGB deal). This is a smart hotel in a quiet road with its own car park. It is very conveniently situated for the town & promenade.

We asked for, and were allocated, a quiet room. It wasn't enormous but it was nicely & fashionably decorated and perfect for our needs. The ensuite contained a bath with power shower over & plenty of hot water. The bed linen was crisp and we enjoyed a couple of very comfortable nights sleep.

Breakfast was excellent in terms of choice, quantity and quality (using local produce where possible). The menu for the evening meal seems to change daily and the food is both cooked and presented to a good standard - there is no need to venture outside the hotel to have a very enjoyable meal. One night we noted a large party of non-residents - another good sign.

All staff without exception were friendly, chatty and helpful which enhances the comfortable small hotel feeling. We would definitely stay again if we revisit the area.

The hotel is really just a stones throw from the beach and the main town area. We stayed during the Cromer Festival & were treated to a fantastic Red Arrows display over the beach and loads of activities around town. Our room was spacious, overlooking the pretty gardens - lovely crisp, white linens & a very comfy bed. The bathroom had a bathtub and fantastic new power shower - luxurious Gilchrist & Soames toiletries. The hotel has certainly been refurbished recently as everything was looking very pristine - I loved the use of the bold wallpapers in the bedrooms & public areas - the owners have a great eye for colour and detail. Breakfast was a delight - especially the homemade carrot & cardomon jam - don't knock it 'til you've tried it! There are a number of restaurants & pubs around the town but we chose to have dinner in the Dining Room which was delicious, lots of local produce incl. Cromer crab - a must try when in Cromer. Will certainly stay here again when we're travelling in the area.

We stayed this weekend for 2 nights with a KGB deals deal for B&B. We were a bit apprehensive at first as have used cheap deals before and there's usually a reason they're cheap, but we needn't have worried. The hotel was lovely, staff very friendly, and the location is perfect. Our room was one of the modern style ones, it was quite small but we didn't mind. The bed was comfortable and the duvet and sheets so soft. Bathroom was great - proper bath and power shower, all beautifully clean, and toileteries provided (showercap, soap, body lotion and body wash - shampoo and conditioner would have also been nice but can't be too picky!). Water always hot and the shower was amazing. Our room was quite cold but it had a heater we could turn on which was nice as we could control the temperature that way. Tea and coffee making facilities great, yummy biscuits! Lovely breakfast in the morning too - we had a cooked breakfast (you can amend what's the standard breakfast) and american pancakes, plus cereals and a selection of home made jams, including carrot and cardamon which was delicious. Loved the random 'quiet' library area near our room. They showcase local photography which is available to buy, that was a nice addition. Very good location - 5 mins walk and you're in town/on the beach. The owners were lovely too, helping serve breakfast and making you feel welcome. I'd love to return again though not sure I would pay the rack rate, but I am more of a cheapy deal kind of person, so very glad we got this good deal.

We stayed at the Virginia Court Hotel for one night on 3 October. Although we arrived earlier than the original check in time it was not a problem and our room was ready. Great location to explore the east coast from and in a few minutes you are by Cromer Pier. We had a cream tea the garden which was lovely and relaxing. The staft were polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of tea and coffee in our room and biscuits which you do not get very often these days. We will definitely stay again and will recommend all our friends who travel up that way.

The hotel has a 1930's feel with a modern twist. On arrival we were met by friendly welcoming staff. The room was spacious, airy and clean with a very big bed and crisp white sheets. A high standard and wide choice for breakfast and evening meals. We came away relaxed and happy that we had found somewhere special to stay in. Shirley and Olivier

We stayed here for a couple of nights and it was very nice. The staff were very polite and helpful, and our room was a good size, was clean, and had a comfy bed. Only shame was a lack of shampoo in the supplied toiletries in our bathroom, no tissues in the room, and strangely the biscuits on our tray were already open, so we didn't have them. All things that I would think the reception would have put right, but as we were only there a couple of days it didn't really matter. Breakfast was lovely, and uses locally produced foods, and was served by nice people. The hotel is about a 3 minute stroll from the seafront, and in a nice quiet area. All in all a nice 3 star hotel, and one I wouldn't hesitate to stay in again.

My husband and I stayed at the Virginia Court Hotel from 8th to 10th June 2011. We were on a tour of the east coast. On arrival we parked in the hotel car park which had plenty parking space.

We stayed in room 22, which was a pleasant room, with a lovely bathroom. It felt a bit like a box, with no character. It was just what it was, a hotel room. The room looked over the back of the property to the dustbins and unfortunately we were staying there when these bins were being emptied early one morning, very noisy.

The hotel was in a lovely position for Cromer town, easy to walk into town from there, a good 5 mins walk. Cromer is lovely and worth a visit.

The hotel is privately owned and the owners were very chatty and approachable, taking time to speak with their guests. Nothing was too much trouble.

The breakfast was rather disappointing, sausage was too spicy and the bacon was smoked, too strong tasting overall. No cooked breakfast for us after day 1 which was a shame. The hotel however had an evening restaurant which was very good and the food was very enjoyable. The chef has been there for many years and is very proud of his menu.

Overall, nice restaurant, nice bar, nice garden area but slightly expensive £140 per night. Would stay there again due to the location.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the garden area
