“A gem of a small museum”
Reviewed 8 August 2013

All the comments regarding things to do with children are spot on, but we recently enjoyed a jazz concert in the Bickford Theater (part of the museum) that was superb! Jazz performances are on week-day evenings and begin at 8:00 for one extended set until 9:30. There is open seating so you might want to arrive early. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. Comfortable theater seats and wheelchair accessible. Performers are well-known jazz musicians. Listening to this music, your feet will be tapping, and you will be smiling when you leave the performance.

Reviewed 31 July 2013

This summer the museum has an unbelieveable train town on display. We also enjoyed the currency & coin bank exhibit. Great family fun.

Many excellent exhibits on view. Permanent exhibit is Guinness antique musical items. Fascinating to see these instruments work. Many hands on areas. Model trains. Ladies dresses thru the ages.

“Good modest sized suburban museum”
Reviewed 25 April 2013

Eclectic doesn't even begin to describe the range of things on view here. Usually, there is a big show, typically a photography exhibition. There is the Guinness collection of Automata (automatic devices and objects that make music, like giant music boxes). There is a model train, historical mansion, traveling fine art exhibitions, costume exhibition, and the permanent collection. The parking is ample. There is a gift shop. There is also a theater for performing arts on site. There is an admissions fee (which is steep at $10 for adults and $7 for children). If you have a BOA account, you can visit the first weekend of the month for free. Lovely setting and nice exterior too.
