Ramada London Stansted Airport
Reviewed 13 April 2014

This is a nice hotel located close to the airport and long stay parking. Room was great and I had a triple room as was travelling with my god son and mate. Only issue I had with this room was no bath. But minor issue. Quiet and reasonably priced, services just next to hotel. Free parking with automatic number plate recognition. Simple! Good stay.

i stayed with colleagues from europe and chose Ramada because i thought that it was a premium hotel

what i got was a travelodge, actually thats unfair on travelodge

the room was very sparse, tv was tiny
the bathroom was very poorly kept with a very noisy extractor that even when light switched off had loud noise

no bath, the walk in shower had terrible mould on the ceiling

also the toilet leaked water for a long time after flushing

the communal areas and bar were ok, breakfast ok

I booked to stay at this hotel quite late on the day I was arriving and chose this because it was reasonable priced, part of a well-known good quality chain and perfectly located for me to hop over to the airport 5 minutes away for my morning flight.

Upon arrival at the hotel, I had no queues at the check-in and had a very friendly guy to assist me. I presented my AMEX Credit Card for payment which always works everywhere else first time without issue but for some reason, the credit card terminal was playing up. The Check In guy had to call through to the credit card terminal company and they kept giving him the wrong numbers. During this time, rather than wait, I was peckish so nipped next door to Burger King for a small midnight snack. In the 10 minutes that took, I returned to the hotel again (25 minutes after initially arriving) to find that this still wasn't sorted. It was then discovered that actually, I was able to pay through a second system they have that processed the payment first time so I was quite annoyed this wasn't done when I'd arrived half an hour earlier. So, we didn't get off to a good start but was very happy to be offered a free upgrade to an Executive Room.

So, I went up to my room where I had requested a quiet room away from lifts, as always, and was looking forward to the usual fineries that awaits you in an Executive Room. I was to be disappointed and although I paid £48 for this room, the Executive Room was at least £20 more and I couldn't see what extra's you were getting apart from a free flapjack and bottle of water in the room! I also don't understand the decor of having tiles in the entrance to a hotel room - a carpet makes you feel much more homely and warmer. I would have expected a bigger TV in an executive room in comparison to other hotel executive rooms I've stayed in but this was no bigger than probably 22" which given the overall size of the room was small.

The bed was very comfortable but the room was laid out totally wrong. The work-space area looked like an extra wide shelf you would have on the wall and I cannot understand why the phone is not beside the bed, especially when you ask for a wake-up call. It then means that half asleep, you have to lurch across the room to answer the phone when that early morning call comes in. Worst still, this one was also wall-mounted.

The bathroom looked like something out of a private hospital cubicle and whilst it was clean and tidy, was not the most attractive looking bathroom I've ever used.

So, to be honest with you, I would say this hotel should be priced at £25 per night given the quality of it overall. I didn't stop for breakfast the next morning due to my flight schedule but I think there is great room for improvement with some of the smaller, finer touches that can make all the difference to any hotel stay, regardless of how much or little you are paying.

Booked this hotel at last minute, the price for an executive room was surprisingly very good and upon arrival was delighted with the room. Although in a motorway stop and near an airport it was very quiet. The room was spacious, clean, well presented and with a fridge and great shower. The staff on reception and check out were very pleasant and helpful. Just one small point the room was very warm and even though turned down to lowest still seemed to us too warm. But would definitely go again and 100% recommend, a good choice.

Room Tip: Ask for quiet room and upgrade to an Executive room if reasonable, worth the extra money.

So, I stayed here just one night prior to a flight to Portugal. Got here pretty late in the day. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and tidy and a sensible temperature. Air con was a tad noisy but turned that of and on the whole it was very good for just £56. Obviously very close to Stansted Airport.

arrived here for just 1 night - actually booked at another property across the way - good thing the taxi was still there - reception professional and very helpful. Large room, full amenities, good internet access. Do use the 24/7 book the taxi service if you come from the airport - 10 GBP. and yes, they have smoking rooms.

I don't like it:

It's quit expensive
The bed's are from the 80's i think
The cleaning is not so good
The heating in the room is also not good
The staff is very clumsy
There was constructionwork going on, nobody told me ahead.
And you can go nowere walking, you always need are car.
This one is to avoid, at stansed there are better options for the same price.
