“Family run, comfortable country inn”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

If you love the Cotswolds and being "in the country", The Lamb Inn will be just your ticket. As you approach the village, you are in the heart of the countryside - fields and rolling hills around you. Tracy Hunt the proprietor welcomes you with a warm smile, and escorts you to one of five rooms. Ours, Leopard Hills, was spacious, with a large, fully appointed bathroom. This is also a "gastro-pub" - beautiful, intimate bar with a full list of wines, beers and spirits. Tracy's brother Tim is the chef, and his menu has a full selection of interesting and creative starters and entrees - everything from fresh fish, steaks, or duck. There is a large outside patio where you can enjoy a drink or your lunch or dinner when weather permits. Can't wait to return.

Just back from a lovely weekend away with friends. This place is a gem, very friendly staff and owner and made us feel very welcome along with the dog.

Rooms were very spacious, homely and had lovely character, definitely will be back to experience again, wonderful location central to Cotswolds also.

We stayed in the Leopard Hills room which was accessed by quite a sharp stairway. The room was lovely, steps up to the bathroom and very comfy bed. Staff here were very friendly, there's a lovely courtyard for when the sun is shining and choice of beverage was great. We booked ahead for tea and glad we did, the wine list is admirable and i cant say enough good things about the menu - oreo cheesecake was excellent! Breakfast choice was great however the waitress did forget our toast and was a little too busy for us to interrupt. Overall, a nice place to stay to see the Cotswolds.

We stayed here with friends for 2 nights. The staff were friendly & welcoming & we enjoyed our stay. Most of the food was delicious, except the cod dish which was so salty we couldn't eat it. There was a power cut on the first morning so we had to get up early if we wanted a cooked breakfast (which was tasty). We stayed in the China Seas room the first night & the Roman Road room on the second night; both rooms were comfortable, although I preferred the china sea room as it was a bit bigger. The showers were both great, although too low for my husband who had to duck (6 foot). Our friends stayed in the Spice room & unfortunately were kept awake until over 1am until they complained about the noise coming from people in the bar below. Despite all this, I would definitely recommend The Lamb Inn - the surrounding area is beautiful for a stroll too.

Room Tip: Avoid the Spice room

We booked a night away in the Cotswolds thinking a walk, a meal and a few drinks finished off by a lovely night's sleep and a full English breakfast. The room was pleasant and the walk completed so we thought we would have wash before our evening meal but the water ran lukewarm. We mentioned this to the reception who said it was probably the kitchen using the water and we should give it 10 minutes. We waited and tried again no luck so we mentioned this again and was assured the owner was on his way to assess the situation and either he or the lady running the hotel would be up to reassure us. Our evening meal booking time was fast approaching and we were hungry but nothing so we tried again and the water ran cold so we concluded no solution had been found. Unfortunately, neither the manager nor the owner came up to talk to us. We had to go down to them. On the second occasion when we decided we did not want to stay the night the apologetic member of staff told us it had happened before and they had not got it sorted out, that is the hot water to this particular room, the Paris, had been faulty before. We said we were leaving to try and salvage something of our evening. As we left the manager saw us as she sat on a sofa in the lounge but did not rise to talk to us let alone offer an explanation or apology. I said to the member of staff I was not going to pay the £100 plus bill for a room we had no hot water in or had clearly not slept in. I telephoned to ask later that evening to enquire if we would be charged and got the manager who said no but then she said it had never happened before. So who is telling the truth? Bad customer service unfortunately meant we left the hotel with a bad taste in our mouths. A shame because it was a nice hotel. Check with the owner first if they have fixed the hot water problem before you book this hotel.

Room Tip: Check the Paris room has hot water and that they are not having a large party in as this room was ve...

When I travel back to the UK this is the place I always stay, or its sister hotel The Wychwood Inn in the same village. Gorgeous rooms, friendly staff and owners, fantastic food, wonderful location, amazing breakfasts cooked to perfection....I highly recommend both these Inns and a perfect place to explore the Cotswolds.

Myself and my husband stayed here during Cheltenham Race week as it was within a 30/40 minute drive from Cheltenham. We loved the intimate cosy feel of the place as it was full of little nooks and crannies. We climbed a really narrow steep stairs to our room which was called Leopard hills. There was tea and coffee available to have along with some good quality biscuits in our room. The service was friendly if a little erratic. We ate there two nights and we found the food very appetising indeed. Our only negative was the bed, it looked lovely, a four poster but there was a dip in the mattress and both my husband and I had sore backs for days after we got home. It would genuinely put me off staying there again, they really need to invest in good quality new mattresses.
