We've been a few times to enjoy Mendip's frisbee golf - always as a family, and usually with other families too, to make up a big group - and we've loved it every time.

Quite simply, it's a load of fun. It combines gorgeous scenery, a country walk and a simple-yet-engrossing game. Plus, it's inexpensive, so a great value family outing.

Frisbee golf, for those who don't know, is played to the same rules as conventional golf (ie, you propel an object from A to B in as few turns as possible) but using a frisbee instead of a ball and club. In other words, it's incredibly easy to pick up - so much so that our children, aged seven and four, grasped the idea immediately and joined in with relish.

We've played in sunshine and in rain, in big groups and small, and it's been fun every time. Age and athleticism are unimportant; this activity is suitable for all.

Two tips, though: 1) Wear comfy shoes. 2) Stop off for breakfast in Mendip's Alpine Lounge; you can enjoy a view of the ski slopes while you eat, and the food is superb - locally sourced, generously portioned, and accompanied by bottomless toast and coffee. Just brilliant.

What a great idea!! Golf but with a frisbee disc. Set in the mendip hills area of outstanding natural beauty. Collect a frisbee at reception then go for it. The course starts out in the woods then moves out onto the hills with open meadow land. They've got 3 starting points for each 'hole' depending on how confident you feel. We went for the green course cos of the kids.

We stopped off at the Alpine Cafe after the course. The all day breakfast was great with locally sourced ingredients. Good quality sausages. Best I've had from a cafe. My breakfast had unlimited tea & toast!! Yum yum.

Overall a great venue, great activity & fantastic value. We WILL be back again soon.

Lovely day out. Lots of laughs all round. We were a family with kids of 12 & 8. A good hour of walking on the green beginners course which takes you through the woods (but could have taken as long as you liked) The last few holes are on top of the hill taking in some fantastic views on a clear day...right across to Wales. Very friendly staff, just turn up at reception to pay and off you go. We made the most of other activities in site - taster skiing & Tobogganing as well as eating in the Alpine Lodge overlooking the slopes - Highly recommended

Heard about this on groupon - 2 people for £6 bargain! Never played frisbee golf before but loved it! Great as it has positions for people at different levels (we used beginner). Lovely location playing through woodland and on a field. wasn't too long or too short in duration - just right! Would definitely recommend and are likely to visit again.

Brilliant for all ages and a great way to get the kids out for a walk without having to force the idea! Had a lovely drink in the cafe after. Staff are really friendly.
