“Outstanding welcome - True gem!”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

Went to the Moat House a week ago to celebrate my Father in law 60th. Alas I felt quite unwell upon arrival and requested a room to rest a bit.

The MD - Chris Lewis - could not be more obliging and efficient and I was promptly given a fresh room despite the hotel being fairly full with other events.

A few hours later, I went to reception to checkout (and pay whatever was owed) only to be told that the room was complimentary.

We were very impressed by the generosity and they quality of service. We will definitely book again for other events etc...

Truly charming and very gentlemanly.

Thank you.

With two other couples we were on a weeks break on a narrowboat. A couple or so hours before arriving in Acton Trussell we rang the Hotel to book a table but the restaurant was full and we would have to chance to luck for a table in the bar area.
We arrive around 7:30pm and the place was packed. We lodged our interest in a table and got a round of drinks and started to plan where else we could go as it wasn't looking hopeful.
Within 20 mins they advised a table would come free in 10 or so minutes and they would hold it for us. Brilliant
Excellent service, great menu, superb food

Visited for a friends 21st birthday who had booked the Trussell Suite. Dropped off all decorations the day before as the staff decorate the room - arrived at 12:30 on the day of the party to find this had been done perfectly! Delicious Sunday lunch menu, which was perfectly presented and promptly served. Friendly and efficient staff and beautiful surroundings. Would highly recommend.

We had our Ruby Anniversary lunch in the Colin Lewis Suite on Sunday. I can't praise everything about the whole experience too highly. From Rachel our Co-ordinator to all of the staff who waited on us. All of our guests were so impressed with the venue, the layout of the room (large oval table) and the food. It was brilliant from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were very efficient but unobtrusive. Because the weather was good it was lovely to finish the afternoon with coffee by the lake. We can't wait to return for another meal to enjoy all the facilities again.

Beautiful setting in the Orangery for afternoon tea. The staff were very good, they gave us 8 different teas to smell before we made our choice. The egg timer i a great idea so that you get the perfect cup of tea. the cakes and sandwiches were yummy in fact too much for us and they kindly wrapped the ones left for us to take home. Well done!!

What a lovely hotel, I found it in the internet and booked last minute . Our room was functional and everything worked as it should it was quiet and comfortable

We ate in the Orangery on both nights and the food was very good , put my jacket on for the first night as the website says no jeans or trainers so surprised to see quite a few in very casual attire .

The staff were very professional and attentive , on the second night we had a drink in the garden by the water which was lovely and then moved back to the restaurant to try the tasting menu which was amazing, best pudding I have ever had

Not a cheap weekend at £750 for two nights including drinks dinner and bed and breakfast in a deluxe double but felt good value as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return or recommend
