We just had a 2 night stay at Nisqually Lodge. Check in was fast and cordial. Room was clean, sparsely furnished, new frig and microwave, bathroom was dated but clean, no mold! We had 2nd floor room which looked out into woods. Located within a short driving distance to Mt. Rainier park entrance.

Unfortunately, breakfast left a bit to be desired. First morning there was no milk and napkin supply was depleted. When the front desk staff was repeatedly asked for milk by many guests, response was, "milk is in owner's apt and they are sleeping (this was as late as 9am!). Some guests had small children, which made breakfast difficult for them. We can only believe this staff person had been reprimanded for waking the owners previously, hence their refusal to get milk from owner apt. Be aware, their were 3 people at the front desk, and a general store was less than 1 mi down the road (we noted later in the day). No thinking "outside the box" to solve this issue. There was also no cream for the coffee, only powdered substitute.

Considering local options, this was good quality for the price. We were not in need of any assistance with directions, however we noted when other guests asked for directions, the front desk person was not helpful, and apparently unwilling to look info up on the computer for these guests. There were no maps available or even simple directions to local places.

We dined at the Paradise Lodge the first night, after a short hike. Food okay, $$ for quality. Second night front desk recommended "Wildberry's" restaurant on Rt 706, Himalayan food, very good and plentiful, very good service.

The husband and wife team managing the lodge added a personal homey feel to our stay. Located just five miles from Mt. Rainier made the location perfect. Restaurants in Ashford were a bit pricey. The Lodge breakfast was average but the eating area was inviting.

This lodge is only 5 miles from the entrance to Mt. Ranier. The rooms were quite large and very clean. The beds were comfortable and laundry facilities were available for guests. They advertised that WIFI was available but we were never able to get on. Other guests told us similar stories.

Room Tip: Our room was at end of hall on the first floor. It was quiet and little overhead noise.

We checked in here and discovered this is probably the best place to stay in Ashford. The place was clean and work is being done to update it--new paint, new appointments are coming. The folks welcomed us warmly. The rooms are large--we stayed on the back side of the building with calming views of the woods and so private. It was a short drive to restaurants, a small store, a service station and a nice spot just outside of the Mt. Rainier National Park which we visited each day of our stay. We'd definitely stay here again!

There aren't many places to stay around here so this is ok. The managers were pleasant enough but didn't seem to have a very good knowledge of the surrounding area and were unable to answer many questions that we and others, asked of them. The room was clean and large. There were no facilities like a fridge. The internet access was not available the weekend we were there. There was no mobile phone reception and the manager seemed to have no knowledge of telephoning abroad. Breakfast was ok but not exceptional.

Wireless internet has been improved. GPS booster installed for Verizon cell phones. Mini fridges and microwaves have been installed. Keurig coffee makers will be installed by the end of September. We shall continue to make improvements and hope you will visit us again.
