we booked a stay at this hotel online. on arrival were given an upstairs room which not only was of the 60's gold dirty carpet etc but extremely smelly. used the toilet which would not flush, decided we could not stay here and asked for a refund. we were refused refund and asked for manager who was extremely rude offered us a cabin for more money and they were in the same condition told him we just wanted a refund and he became even worst told us we were not nice and would not give us one. . left and went down the road about 2 miles and stayed in a wonderful B & B which was almost the same price and included a wonder full breakfast. do not stay at this DUMP

I never met such bad attitude boss, I think he is the boss, very rude and impolite to us when we want to know the reason why we need to pay extra person which was confirmed over the phone was free for a family of 4, even though they are over 15-18, and simply asked us to leave as we wish. However, we don't want to ruin our vacation so we chose to pay whatever they asked. The room they claimed was great was actually with three double beds in three separate rooms but not good for 4 of us, double bed is not enough for 2, very bad design and the bathroom is designed even worst, incredibly small on the shower and toilet, I don't think it can fit in anyone over 100/lbs, especially western people, we can even turn our body properly, we need to squeeze it, it might be the only one room with that condition, I really don't know, but the sitting room is very spacious but I can't say it is clean enough to touch everywhere. Besides the boss, the other staff was ok.

Room Tip: don't stay in the Inn, especially with small kids, may be cabin is better, but do remember they...

This looked like a convenient place to stay = beware! The cabins are filthy! The carpet was so dirty that I kept my socks on. The thin, worn sheets gave me the creeps. All beds were doubles with dismal old bedspreads from the last century. There was a nice old fireplace, but they used an oven rack for a firescreen. The places look adorable from the outside, but need immediate attention to new carpets and linens. I'd rather camp in the rain.

Room Tip: Don't.

Four of us stayed here before our climb up Rainier. My cousin and I got a room in the hotel section, it was clean, spartan, with a tiny TV. Our friends got one of the cabins for the same price---a mistake. Their cabin smelled of Pine Sol, had some spiders and of most concern, one of the beds had a used baggie under the pillow. It did not inspire confidence---but we got the place for about $50 less than a room without a bath at the Paradise Lodge. This place could be good if the cleanliness was consistent. Managers are friendly but challenged linguistically.

Room Tip: Stay in the hotel section.

Stayed for one night August 22, 2012. for the money go somewhere else, they other lodges and inns are close enough or cheaper and include some breakfest. The cabin was dark and unclean. Beds were not great and noisy. Shower was small and in nead of repairs. With some upkeep and lighting this could be a great place. Needs a lot to get up to par. They seem to be the last resort for late travel arrangements and can get away with sub-par facilities. If you plan ahead you can stay somewhere else and have a much better stay. I planned ahead but did not look at the ratings. Do so and save your self some discomfort. Resturant seemed to be also out of everything we wanted to order too. " oh that will be coming in later today" are you kidding on everything we tried to order.

Room Tip: Don't if you have the time to plan.

Decided to hit Mt. Rainier few days above and beyond our week inside the park. Gave this place a try since it was at the Nisqually entrance. We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment type space. Everything looks like it came from 1979 and at times it feels like you are inside a carnival fun castle. The floor tilts at odd angles with bizarre lumps under the carpet. There is no AC and we hit it on a 90F day so it was roasting inside. Plus it was above the restaurant.

It is odd, rustic, and overpriced for 3 people. If you have 6 people, it might be value for the price but if you are a party of 4 or less--seek out something else.

We recently stayed in a cabin at the Gateway Inn. The cabin was dark and rustic and didn't seem to be the cleanest place. The bed was uncomfortably hard and loud. It made awful noises with every move. The bathroom was clean and the towels were very nice compared to the rest of the place. Don't count on using the free wifi as it is non-existent. The host assured us that we could get signal if we sit in restaurant or outside door or restaurant, but no such luck. Cell phone service is no good all through out the park and surrounding areas, be prepared to be away from all your modern conveniences. Keep your expectations realistic when staying here, it is roughing it for those of us without actual camping gear.

Room Tip: Don't stay in cabin 1...it is about 20 ft from the road and everyone stops at your window to tak...
