We had a family wedding to attend at nearby Botley's Mansion. In truth I booked this place as it was simply the nearest place, what a stroke of luck that was. We only stayed the one night, but the experience from start to finish was just wonderful. Cheerful, friendly and professional staff and the room (apparently occupied by Sir Bradley Wiggins during the Olympics) was spotless, spacious and very nicely appointed; and all those lovely little hotel extras were included. You know, those impossibly fluffy towels and bath robes (All still there I will add!) The Hotel is set well back off a country lane in amongst a lovely parkland, very peaceful although there are all sorts of activities on site. Our room had a small balcony with views across the woods and golf course, it was set in a separate block about 150yds walk but this was not a problem to us. However although accessible for wheelchairs and or the less mobile, it would be worth checking when booking if it's going to be OK for your needs. My ONLY criticism was that the room temperature was ridiculously high. Put simply, for what we paid I think we had simply great value.

We were at an event at The Clubhouse at Foxhills, for about 150 others. I've always loved this hotel and have been there quite a bit over the years for events, meals and parties. It has always been wonderful for service (brilliant but not 'show-offy') and fab for food. In other words, my expectations were high.

This meal was a cut above - just delicious and beautifully presented. Service was (as ever) seamless. After a beautifully light & tasty salmon & oyster starter, the main course of lamb was so tender it just melted in your mouth...how on earth do you do that when you are feeding 150? The selection of chocolate treats for dessert were beautifully presented on a slate, each one perfect (but far too sweet/naughty to eat them all!). There was cheese too, but I was full by then!

The thing I like most about Foxhills is that thought it is very very smart indeed, you feel at home. So nice to be somewhere that service is so good that it makes you feel comfortable.

So thanks to the chef and his team, it was perfect.

We had a lovely time staying at Foxhills as a mixed age party for our daughter's 18th. The rooms were lovely particularly ours which had a lovely mezzanine for our bed. Lovely meal with very friends waiting staff who were really helpful. The older members of the group enjoyed the comfort and warmth of the place and the younger folks really enjoyed the pools and opportunity to use the sports facilities..

This is a beautiful and quiet location, and our suite was huge. Of course, we were there at a quieter time of year and there were really no children to be seen. In fact, it was so quiet, it was a bit of a shock after spending 4 nights in London. The only down side I could see was how warm it was in the room (thankfully, they do provide fans). I cannot imagine how uncomfortable it might be in the warmest months. Although we had lots of windows and a balcony door we could open, there are no screens; hence, our room (in fact, almost every building or room we encountered) always had lots of mosquito hawks in it. In retrospect, that's better than mosquitos, but still a bit disconcerting for the bug-phobic among us. Otherwise, the older buildings are lovely.

Room Tip: We didn't visit the spa, so we are not qualified to rate it. We were fortunate to have one of the suites used by a member of the British racing team. It was very spacious.

Foxhills is an old large mansion with very extensive grounds of over 400 acres that has been extended to provide an excellent hotel, two first class 18 hole golf courses and a 9 hole pitch and put, all in immaculate condition. Much of the accommodation is spread in two story blocks around the house, which does mean a walk outside to the main restaurant (but capacious umbrellas are provided!). There are swimming pools, spa, tennis courts and gym in addition to the golf courses, so there is no excuse not to keep fit!
Our evening meal, taken as a large party, was excellent as was the extensive breakfast!
The staff could not have been more helpful. It is a delight to find such a countryside environment so close to London
