Description: Welcome to Scotland’s smallest Restaurant/Bistro With just 6 tables, you are offered an intimate & affordable dining experience without being intrusive. Established in 2012, Bath Street Arches is situated opposite Gourock train station on a ‘quiet’ – Bath Street which runs parallel to Kempock Street (Gourock’s high street). The restaurant’s food does not fit into a category such as ‘Italian’, ‘Scottish’ or even Western or Eastern cuisine. This is because the Arches creates its own flavour combinations and in this way writes it’s own recipes. While offering customers something ‘different’, it does not mean that one cannot find traditional items like a haggis or risotto on the menu. It is this mix of the modern with the traditional, why the Arches does not fit into a category but has it’s own style.

Surprised to find a table available on Easter Sunday but perhaps this was because they don't normally open on Sundays. Very pleased however as our meal was delicious from start to finish. Sometimes we ignore the 'simple' foods which is a pity - I had forgotten just how delicious French Onion soup can be until now. All dishes were beautifully cooked and presented, complemented by charming service.

“Great wee place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

We went here last Thursday evening for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. As a vegetarian it was a great surprise to find they have a separate vegetarian menu with a good variety of choice. Dishes on both menus are inspired from different countries and this means a varied and quite unusual offering although there are some old favourites there too, and all very reasonably priced. We really liked the healthy approach to the menu too - dishes are served with a load of fresh, al dente vegetables and sauces are served in a shot glass on the side so you decide how much you want. The service was great, very friendly and helpful, although it was quiet so that helps, but we got the feeling that that was the kind of service you could expect no matter how busy they are. It seems to have a different menu throughout the day and we look forward to going back at different times to try the tea menu, afternoon tea and the tapas. Having sampled the cocktails already we'll definitely be back for a few of those too! We especially recommend the White Tea Russian. Delicious! We'd recommend you book as it is so small and the phone rang frequently for reservations whilst we were there. There have been a number of really great restaurants in this building over the years which have sadly not survived. Hopefully this one will be around for a long time.

“Enjoyable!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2014

I recently took my Mum, Mother-in-law & Daughter to lunch at the Bath Street Arches. The food was lovely and the customer service is second to none. This restaurant is a hidden gem. Just a few tables so make sure you reserve a table. The tapas is lovely, the only difficulty is making a choice. For future reference we were advised if you want to have high tea make sure your place your order when you book your table so it can be prepared for you. Highly recommended and look forward to a return visit.
