“Sleep in a castle”

You can't do this in the States so we thought this would be a great opportunity. We weren't quite sure what to expect. The castle is a tower embedded in suburbia and it's an interesting juxtaposition. It's hard (i.e. impossible) to get pictures of the outside because of the neighbors' houses. If the weather's decent, Jan will take you out on the roof to look around. The castle was purchased some time ago by Jan and Lydia Edlman who are Czech emigrees. They are wonderful hosts. If you brush up on your Czech folk songs and Milos Foreman filmography you can have quite a good conversation.

Gourock was the only city we visited on our trip where it was hard to find a meal late at night. We arrived late so Lady Lydia sent us out quickly so we could get something to eat.

Room Tip: We stayed in the master bedroom. It's quite large and comfortable. The full bathroom is across t...

Our stay in the castle was amazing. Lydia and Jan were really pleasant. The room (the big one) was great, the four posts bed, the sateen bed linen were awesome. The breakfast was delicious. The town is a nice place for a walk and very coneviently located near Glasgow and Glasgow airports.

myself and my wife Chelle stayed at Levan castle on 13/09/13 and had a lovely stay, our hosts were welcoming and very attentive to our needs as guests. the castle itself is fantastic and proves what a little love and care can do for such an old building (Lydia and Jan were also very informative in regards to history and legend of building).Would highly recommend Castle Levan for a short or even long stay, a little piece of medieval magic.

Room Tip: its a castle. c"mon i would have been pleased with the dungeons if they had them plus its easy...

Our initial impression of this B&B was less than excellent as we found the entrance a little hard to find and then the steep winding stairs would not be for everyone. However, by the time we left we were well satisfied and would stay there again if looking for a special treat. We stayed in the master bedroom with four poster bed and it really was fit for a king. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and the complimentary strudel provided by Lady Lydia was simply mouth watering. The bathroom was very well appointed and best of all the castles thick walls completely blocked out the lousy weather outside which was that bad that the ferry suspended operations. We heard only silence and slept very soundly indeed.

Room Tip: Certainly recommend the Master room although it may be a little more expensive.

We loved our stay in this B&B. It's a fantastic old castle tower with very friendly owners. As we were traveling with 4 kids, we had the whole place for ourselves. The kids took over the master bed room with the 4 post bed and sofa bed. We slept in cellar. The bed in the master bedroom were slightly better than the ones in the cellar room (these were very soft)

The bedrooms were clean. The breakfast was served in the living room, which made it a real b&b experience. While we had our fresh fruit, Jan, the host was telling stories about the "white lady" and the kids were shown around the hidden dark staircases. We all loved it!
In the direct neighborhood there is not much to do but the castle itself was definitely worth going!

Room Tip: Try to stay in the master bedroom and ask for advise where to go for dinner!

We received a present of a Celtic Castle voucher for a wedding gift. Since we were going over to Scotland decided to look and see what castles were on offer! Found Castle Levan and booked 1 night . My wife was a bit worried as it did say it was in a development, but she need not have worried. When we arrived the lady of the castle showed us to our room and what a room! 4 poster bed and tartan frills every where. Next morning breakfast served by the Lord , then a bit of history and a tour of the castle. Lovely experience and 2 lovely people looking after us.

Room Tip: Stay in the Master Bedroom .

This B&B was just such a surprise at how wonderful a stay in a castle could be. All the mystery of the 1500's castle expectation with the luxuries of the 21st century. Lydia and her husband were wonderful hosts and gave us a wonderful tour of the ramparts, gardens and other rooms in there home (castle). The food the best in our two weeks on Scotland/Ireland... huge breakfast with lots of fruit, yogurts and home baked treats. Bedding was luxurious and comfortable, lots of hot water. Would recommend a tutorial on the bath tub, the drain is different and once I knew how to use it.. it was all good. Highly recommend and when I go again, I will stay longer!!! Loved it!
