We just had a lunchtime meal here. A rather average place, to say the least. The food was OK but nothing more. The surroundings are sad. Cannot comment on the rooms. A place to eat if you are stuck between Edinburgh and Glasgow for something to eat.

Food very good. - Prices very reasonable. -Salad the best I have tasted - plenty of variety.
Sweets are a must - staff friendly and helpful. The hotel requires new decor. Should give children bigger portions, My family and myself are regulars at this hotel, and definately would recommend,

This is a 2 star hotel with service that is as good as a number of 5 star establishments we have visited.
The staff and service is first class as is the food. This is a family owned and run buisness that provides service with a smile at all times.

We needed a cheap stay for one night near Motherwell and chose the Grange Hotel solely on price. The hotel's location next to the busy A8/A725 junction meant it gave easy access to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Motherwell and Hamilton. The room rate was very reasonable and included a cooked breakfast.

The room (No.1) was a reasonably modern en-suite room with tea/coffee making facilities. The bedding was clean. One wall light did not work at all and the other had a broken pull cord. The carpet was infested with fleas - one of us was bitten several times. It was impossible to lock the door to the room as it had come off the top hinge and the cylinder rim lock would not operate.

The bathroom was superficially clean but the shower cubicle had black and orange mould which should have been cleaned. Only two of the four ceiling lights worked making it very dim. The shower bracket was extremely loose and the low flow meant a shower took ages. One of the towels was very badly stained but we did not need to use it.

The staff were not welcoming (except at breakfast) and the atmosphere in the bar/restaurant was tense. A smile would have worked wonders and would have cost nothing.

Overall we were disappointed with our stay but felt the low price still offered good value. With some better attention to detail and a thorough deep clean, the bedroom could have been quite pleasant.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if the traffic noise from the adjacent busy roads would bother you.

I didn't stay at hotel only ate there with family. First impressions were of quite an empty and tired looking hotel/pub restaurant. The menus themselves were quite tattered and decor could be freshened up. Food is basic pub food like steak pie, lasagne, scampi etc. Service was quick and food was ok. In comparison to other local pubs I thought the menu was overpriced as I've had better food in nicer surroundings elsewhere for less. The kids menu was again very simple items however my 10 year old who isn't a big eater found the portions were too small. We did all eat our meals but probably wouldn't choose here again.

never stayed in the hotel but decided to take the family for lunch. The first thing that struck me was the weird smell when you walk into the hotel. but maybe this isnt a daily occurance But going into the restuarant it looked nice. Food was decent and as in the title pub food at best. Everybody remarked that the food was ok But they must have ran out of onion for my curry and put in big lumps of uncooked red onion which made it taste awful. Prices of food was decent and by all accounts the rest of the meals were ok. Nothing fancy. I thought id try the Grange as somewhere new to go in Coatbridge for lunch but wouldnt rush back.

we usually stop in travel lodge, premier inn etc but everywhere was fully booked the night we wanted so thought we would give these a try.
My usual theory is "its a bed" but i was very disapponted.
The staff, bar area and evening meal were brilliant we couldnt fault them at all however the room and breakfast were very disappointing.
The room was very small - for 1 night it was just ok - any longer and i would have asked to be moved!!
Our room was right next to the ventilation fan for the kitchen and this was running all night, this wouldnt usually have bothered me but we had to have the window open all night on account of the overwhelming smell of stale tobacco in our room!!
The bed was incredibly uncomfortable VERY hard n lumpy - im pretty sure if we dropped a coin on it then it would rebound straight back!! The duvet only just covered us both - at one point i gave up the fight with hubby and wrapped myself in the curtain!!
Thr breakfast again was very disappointing! There was a selection of cereal on the bar along with tea, coffee and orange juice. We opted for a full breakfast as we had a long day ahead - with it being scotland a full breakfast we were expecting the works!! However when the plates arrived we had 1 cold slice of toast, 2 dry pieces of bacon, 2 small dry sausages (no idea what they were made of but after 1 taste i opted to leave them) and an overcooked fried egg. Needless to say we left quite hadstily to try and locate a mcdonalds as we had an increcibly long day ahead.
I would highly recommend the evening meals and the bar and like i say 1 night stay max but apart from that we were cery disappointed.
