“A very enjoyable stay”
Reviewed 14 January 2012

Having read the most recent review I find it almost impossible to believe that they were talking about the same place. We stayed in the cottage and found it nothing short of spotless with no bad odours or dirty sheets. Furthermore the hotel offers full access to WIFI to guests. In addition the food and atmostphere were excellent and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The new owners came across as being very friendly, the staff seemed helpful and the location was handy being in Comrie. However we stayed in the small bungalow styled two rooms in the garden. The rooms absolutely STUNK of must and mold forcing us to leave the windows open at all times or the smell became unbearable. The room was very poor for the prices paid the kettle was old the bed sheets were like something from the 50's as was the interior felling dated and unclean. If i had just bought the hotel I would perhaps have not rented these rooms out untill they'd been redecorated. I hope the owners do decide to gut the rooms and modernise them but untill then i would recommend the local hostel over this hotel. Having access to WiFi would have also been apreciated.

J T, Owner at Comrie Hotel, responded to this review, 9 April 2012
We were very disappointed to read this review as no complaint was made to us at the time which meant we were unable to offer any alternatives to provide guest satisfaction.

When we bought the hotel in June we were aware that it was in need of refurbishment but due to the time of year, being in high season we knew this would have to wait until a quieter time.

The hotel is currently undergoing some refurbishment and modernisation in the dining areas and also in the cottage accommodation reviewed here. This means we will have a stunning new dining room, a further new dining area and a complete refurbishment of the cottage with brand new guest bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms and full access to all hotel services. We welcome feedback and hope the reviewer will come back and visit us again once the work is complete in April-May 2012.

Reviewed 5 April 2010

We stayed at the Comrie Hotel from the 2nd to the 5th of April on a bed and breakfast basis costing £70 per double room per night. The hotel was clean and well run but looked a wee bit tired and could do with some updating in decor in some areas. But the family who run the hotel could not have been more helpful. We were on holiday with another 14 family members who were staying in other areas in and around comrie. Hotel owners John and Margaret along with their son Andrew were fantastic hosts. When we enquired about taxis as our other family members were 3 miles out of town Andrew said he would run them back so they could enjoy a few drinks. He made 3 runs that night a really lovely young man. They gave us the front sitting room so that all the family could eat, we ate there for the first 2 nights. Margaret entertained the children for us providing pens and paper to draw with and wowing the children with her tricks. John was a great host behind the bar happy to serve drinks into the wee small hours. We found out there was a method to his madness as we never got up in time for breakfast as we were kept up so late by John. ha ha. All in all we had a lovely 3 nights stay made so by the fantastic hospitality from Margaret and John who with their help allowed us to enjoy our break as a family. we would go back tomorrow. Thank You

Facts
Breakfast from 8am to 9pm.
We would have liked a slightly later time 9.30am.
The breakfast were very good and filling.

Evening meals were ok but nothing special distinct lack of chips, one of the kids got 4 chips with her meal.

Out of room for 10.30am when leaving.

You have to inform staff if your going to be out later than 11pm at night.

Comrie was a very friendly place people very nice good walks around the town. The Royal Hotel has a bar showing sky football and serves lovely meals special cheaper menu on sundays. Couple of cafes and a chip shop.

The Ancaster Bar has live music.
