We stayed at Kemps Kamp in Keystone South Dakota this past weekend from Saturday through Tuesday. I don't know what the complaints about management were, but we were met by the owner and he was courteous and respectful throughout our stay, of course we are quiet, no children with us and follow rules, which may have been the problem with the people that complained!
We stayed in one of the "sleeper campers" they rent. It was clean and comfortable and exactly as I expected it. At each camp site there is a covered cement slab with a picnic table and an off the ground grill where you can grill or have a campfire at night. This shelter at the campsite came in handy as we had rain during our stay. Firewood is available for $3 a bundle, which is cheaper than other places in Keystone and remember you are not allowed to bring your own wood in as invasive bug species are rampant.

This campground has everything you need to make your casual Black Hills trip a success. Bruce "the owner" was able to answer questions about the area and what to see and what to pass up.

The camp was clean, shower houses and bathrooms were also clean. We enjoyed our stay and if we return to the Black Hills we would stay here again.

I'm not sure what all the hubbub was about with management here, but thu treated us great! Super friendly staff at the office. We tented here and had our pick of campsites. We had a great site with a great view behind us. Great location, just a couple minutes from Keystone and only a few miles from. Rushmore. We will definitely stay here again if given the opportunity!

Have stayed at Kemp's Kamp several times over the years from 1995-2007. Owner always treated me with respect as long as I respected him"Fair Enough"
I don't have a problem with rules, It keeps the people with out of control kids from staying next to me.

It's an ok place. We stayed in cabin #5. The beds are full. The tv is pretty small and it's got cable channels but no local channels or any of the big networks (abc, CBS, NBC, fox) that I knew of. The wifi in the room is low signal. The place isn't on main street and unless you want to walk a mile, it isn't within walking distance of anywhere. It's a great value and a greAt place for families as the cabin had two full beds, a small kitchen and table, and tv and bathroom. But I said "Kemps kamp Is fine but there's nothing like the holiday inn!"

We had a great time, the kids loved seeing the 1880 train multiple times daily across the street from the campground. We had a spot by the river which was by far the best spot in the campground. I don't know what any of the other review complaints were about. We had a peaceful vacation. We also had a mule deer observe us all evening one night. The bathrooms and shower houses were very clean.
