True, visit this center before touring Mt. Rushmore to get educated on this talented man and the work involved in this great monument. We were pleasantly surprised and informed by touring this center on Gutzon Borglum. I know my grandsons would love coming to hear of his creation as well as we did. It was rather dark to view photographs on the walls, but the cases of his work were lit nicely. I believe we are fortunate to have had Gutzon take on this phenomenal project to represent these American presidents in this tribute. He was truly a genius in his work. And to have his son follow in his footsteps was also great. This is a must-see opportunity in Keystone. The bronze of Abraham Lincoln outside is amazing in likeness and greatness.

We recently spent a few days in the Black Hills, touring the area. It was raining steadily with fog and low clouds so we decided to take our trip inside and tour the Gutzon Borglum Historical Center. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Although it's relatively small, it was both very interesting and informative. It gave such a complete description of not only the massive undertaking of the creation of Mount Rushmore but also describes the life and history of Borglum who was a fascinating and historical person in his own right. Highly recommended to complete the Mount Rushmore experience.

We were here in June 2012. Above date does not go any earlier than Oct. We certainly enjoyed the center. It was very informative and worth the visit. The center was very interesting with lots of history. This was a wonderful place to visit while touring Mt. Rushmore, the Badlands and Crazy Horse. Delightful! You won't be disappointed.

Very disappointed to arrive at a time that SHOULD have been an open time according to the website only to find it closed.
