“Cute, cozy, felt like home”
Reviewed 28 July 2011

My husband and I spent one night here before venturing around Keystone and going up to see Mt. Rushmore. We had a really good time here. The owners were incredibly friendly, seeing to our every need and offering tips on travel. The location was great-we just had to walk down the street to be in the heart of Keystone. The room we had might have been on the small side, but it was cozy, clean, comfortable, and affordable! The following morning, we were treated to a wonderful breakfast before resuming our travels. A note: the walls are just a tad thin, so you might hear a little bit about your neighbors' day, but still...Also, our shower was clean but didn't quite drain properly. I didn't kick up a fuss since we were leaving the next morning. I'm sure if I had said something, the staff would have handled the issue promptly. All in all, a wonderful time. We'll certainly come back in the future!

Thank you so much for staying with us! We are glad you had a nice stay and enjoyed your time in the Black Hills. I am sorry about the "slow drain" and am happy to report we have had it fixed. I encourage people to let us know if there are issues such as slow drains in the rooms, so we can address them as soon as possible. We try to catch little things like that before guests do, but we are not using the rooms day to day like our guests. We don't look at it as a complaint when people tell us there is something wrong and give us the opportunity to make it right ! Again, thank you for staying with us and for your review! It is input like this that helps make our business better. Thank you, Tammy

This motel was dark dingy and well over priced 129 dollars a night. We cancelled our booking and stayed in one of The Presidents hotels for only 99 dollars which was 100 times better, brighter, and fresher.

I am sorry that this was your experience with our lodge. I regret that you were not more specific about what we could have done to correct or address any issuue's you may have had. We take a great amount of pride in running a clean, comfortable, affordable lodge--- with outstanding customer service. We pay close attention to our guests and their feedback to ensure we are doing all that we can to meet their needs in the best

Due to the fact we are such a small lodge and because there are only 2 weekends a year our rooms are over $100.00 and we have never had anyone check out or be un-happy with their room, I am able to address what I believe are the real issue's you are angry about. At the time you checked in, Keystone started what ended up being a 3 hour "city wide" power outage. Obviously, it was dark and hot as there were no lights or air working due to power. You we're unwilling to wait until the power came on. I repeatedly asked if there was anything we could do to better accommodate you and you said no. I even offered to help you find another hotel in Rapid and you declined.

Again, I am sorry you did not have a good experience with us at Battle Creek Lodge. We are glad that you found accommodations that were better suited for you and what you needed during your stay in the Black Hills. We appreciate your feedback.
Safe Travels,
Tammy

My buddies & I were on a motorcycle trip and wanted to stay somewhere quiet and preferably not a chain hotel. This place was just what we were looking for. The rooms very nice, clean & quiet and the beds were very comfortable. The rates were good and the people who work there a very friendly & helpful.

We had such a great time in Keystone! Battle Creek Lodge was so cozy and clean. Our bed was so comfortable! We stayed in the King room upstairs and had a wonderful view of Keystone. The Lodge owners were just wonderful! Breakfast was served every morning and many choices were given as well. They really can direct you to some wonderful scenic areas. We were close to so many things, shopping, dining, etc. I would recommend the following: Mt. Rushmore.....of course, Custer State Park, the Badlands, the 1880 train (take the am train) horseback riding in the blackhills at the KOA. The Rushmore Cave and Zip Line...so fun! The lodge was very economical, clean, and convenient to the entire area. We will visit again soon! Highly recommend! Thanks Tammy & Cine for a wonderful stay and we hope you will make it out to ILLINOIS sometime :)

This hotel is small but nice. It is in need of a little updating, but it is clean and the rooms are good sized. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was big enough for two people to get ready at once. They also had some in room amminities that are a nice touch. The breakfast included biscuits and gravy, eggs, cereal, milk, juice, coffee, bread and muffins.

The owners are very nice and accommodating. They brought a pack-n-play from home for us to use and had it in our room before we checked in. The extra effort was very appreciated!

Battle Creek Lodge may not be the fanciest hotel in town, but it was just right for us. Clean, roomy, nice breakfast in the morning, and the best shower I've ever had on the road! (room #19). The wonderful owners even offered us the use of their washer & dryer, since we'd been on the road for over a week and had nothing clean left to wear!
thank you!!

We showed up late on a Friday night and the Fireplace was roaring away to greet us. (The late arrival was pre-arranged.) Our room was quaint but impeccably clean with wonderfully soft and dreamy linens. We had a great view of the hot tub/bbq area. As second floor guests we enjoyed the outdoor sitting area just outside our room while our boys watched a movie and fell asleep. The creek runs in front of the lodge giving a wonderful relaxing vibe. The lodge is located just steps from downtown Keystone, the 1880's Train and the Historic Ruby house. In the morning we were greeted with perfect continental breakfast. Donuts for the boys and biscuits and gravy for the adults. (plus other selections) The management went out of their way to make us feel at home and comfortable. Our only regret was that we could only stay one night. Battle Creek Lodge will not disappoint and it's value for a night's stay is well worth the time to go visit!
