We recently spent 2 nights with Marilyn and Art. They have an amazing home and we immediately felt at home and very well taken care of. The room and bed were both clean and comfortable. We were served evening desserts and hot tea each day..wow, they were amazing! I had mentioned that I was looking forward to Art's bacon because of all the trip advisor reviews and he made it the next morning! It was wonderful! I know we would have missed many important attractions without Marilyn's detailed driving instructions and tips on what to do, see, and where to eat. She is a built in tour guide with both history and trivia information. Make your reservations early. We will recommend them to both friends and family!

While looking for the perfect, yet affordable, place to stay for our honeymoon, I read hundreds of reviews. Buffalo Rock Lodge grabbed my attention because of the promised view. Let me just say, all of the excellent reviews on here are an understatement. This place is tucked out of the way, a perfect distance from town. The view, while far away, is still breathtaking and the best you'll find from any hotel/B&B in the area. It is truly spectacular. The property is gorgeous. We saw a variety of birds. They even have deer that sleep in the yard. Now for the best part.... Art and Marilyn are two very sweet people who open their home to their guests. They serve amazing breakfasts and delicious desserts every night. Art's baked bacon is probably one of the best things I've ever tasted. We stayed three nights and I wasn't served a thing I didn't absolutely love. AND they gladly share their recipes! Every day we were there Marilyn had a map and easy to follow printed instructions on how to get to the sites we wanted to see. Who does that?! These folks love what they do and it shows in every aspect. It really made our trip a hundred times more spectacular.

Room Tip: The Norbeck room is the smaller of the three but has a huge king bed. You can walk out onto the deck to see Mt Rushmore.

Our first night in South Dakota...Marilyn made us completely at home with a homemade dessert. Breakfasts were wonderful, we actually didn't need to eat again until dinner. We got well described directions to each place we wanted to go each day. My husband and I had a peaceful, relaxing 3 nights here...wish the lodge was closer so we could stay weekends there!

Our gracious & knowledgeable hosts prepared us with daily sightseeing tips and big, hot breakfasts. After fun-filled days exploring, we felt spoiled driving past the cheap, touristy motels up to our luxurious Log Cabin. This home is beautiful! Our room was large, with magnificent log beams and claw-footed tub. We loved exploring this fascinating home! Each night, we relaxed on the balcony as our hosts served us yummy desserts and asked us about our day. Our view?... Mt. Rushmore lit up in the distance! We will never forget that view! I looked through the large picture windows to the living room and saw our host covering my son up with a blanket as he had fallen asleep on the couch. This place, this couple, is very special!
