“Awesome Hotel, Awesome Staff, Best Choice in Keystone”
Reviewed 15 August 2011

We stayed at the Four Presidents for one night (Aug. 5) and we wished we could've stayed longer! The hotel was absolutely awesome! It wasn't right in Keystone downtown, which was actually a good thing since it was full of motorcycles, tourists, and noise. The hotel looks brand new and you can tell management keeps up the property. Check in was a breeze and we were upgraded to a suite due to our Platinum Elite status. Cody at the front desk was really nice and was very hospitable. We were glad to have multiple encounters with him. We also met the manager who was great. He was super friendly and you could tell he takes a great amount of pride in this hotel. We even met his German Shepherd, Nikki, who was also great! We figured we were getting a typical Best Western room when we were approaching the room. When we walked in, we got something completely different. The room was AWESOME. It was newly renovated and HUGE. There were two super comfortable and large queen beds, tv, living area with couch, and a pretty nice bathroom. We were so happy and pleasantly surprised by this room. We got a great dinner recommendation by a local shop owner to eat at the Powder House Restaurant just down the street from the hotel. It was awesome! The breakfast the next morning was also great. There were plenty of quality choices and everything tasted yummy. The atmosphere was also really nice. It was so great to stay at this hotel without it being full of loud motorcyclists for Sturgis, SD Motorcyle Rally. That made the stay even sweeter. The hotel was super updated, quiet, and is the perfect and best hotel to stay in when seeing the amazing historic site, Mount Rushmore. This is by far one of the best Best Westerns I've ever stayed in.

Room Tip: Ask for suite upgrade, well worth it!

Well kept, clean, large rooms and great breakfast. A couple of miles from downtown had it's advantages.

This is nothing more than a Best Western with a nice name. If they priced it like a regular Best Western I would have felt ok about the hotel but they price it like you are staying in a "Presidents Lodge" and it just is not worth it. They do have a nice continental breakfast and small indoor pool, the hot tub was under repair. They staff was very friendly and helpful.

Greetings! First, thank you for staying at the Best Western PLUS Four Presidents Lodge. We appreciate you, and all the other reviewers, taking the time to offer your thoughts. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the breakfast and that the staff was very helpful. We have repaired the spa! It just needed a new pump, which was promptly installed.

Please note that we are not a regular Best Western, but a Best Western PLUS. We have much higher room and amenity standards (which we exceed!) and a regular Best Western. Our mattresses are new pillow-top, our rooms are the largest in Keystone, we offer fresh baked
cookies in the lobby, etc..... The 'Lodge' aspect of our name refers to the Western ambiance of the interior and exterior decor. But, being a modest size of only 50 rooms, we do offer a much more cozy environment than some 'Super-sized' properties in Rapid City. If you look at the reviews listed below you will see that most guests have recognized the value in our hotel; We are the best three-diamond property in the area!

Thanks again, and happy travels!

Hotel is about 2 miles outside of downtown Keystone. Clean, comfortable rooms. Be sure you get an east facing room(toward the road) otherwise you'll be looking at a hill behind the hotel. Rooms are good sized. Rooms have new refridgerators and microwaves. Very few tv channels to choose from. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby is very nice, great place to sit and talk. The indoor pool was 'ok'. Very good breakfast area and breakfast selection. Omelets, biscuts and gravy, sausage patties or bacon along with bagels, yogurt and donuts. Be sure to try the waffles too they are great! If you want some very good food be sure to eat at 'Holy Smoke' resturaunt right next door. The food is more upscale, salads are fresh and the food is prepared perfectly. In our opinion the best food in Keystone. There are chairs out front which are nice to sit in at the end of the day. The hotel is right on 16A so there are quite a few cars, motorcycles and rv's rolling by but you don't hear the traffic in your room. We had two rooms, one in the front and one in the back and we didn't hear any traffic. I've stayed at this hotel several times and I'm never disapointed. It's nice, clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: Get a room facing 16A for a better view

We stayed here in June 2011 and enjoyed a very pleasant two night stay. On arrival after checking us in the friendly receptionist gave us lots of information about the area as well as offering coffee and homemade cookies (which are freely available for guests). The hotel is just outside Keystone with a very pleasant view, even though its not overlooking Mount Rushmore. Our room was light and airy and looked as though it had been recently decorated. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. A reasonable selection of breakfast foods including diy freshly cooked waffles.

We stayed for two nights at this hotel and were very satisfied. It was not perfect, but it was close. The rooms are very comfortable, and the staff was very courteous and helpful. The breakfast served in the morning had many options and was well-prepared. Free wifi in the rooms as well.
What impressed me most about the hotel was how it compared to so many of the other hotels in the area. This is area is heavily commercialized, and most of the other hotels look poorly kept. There are some that advertise rooms for $50 per night, and they look like they are worth about $50 per night.
In this case, we got what we paid for. The Four Presidents Lodge was a bit more expensive than the other hotels, but my whole family was very glad we spent the extra money.
The only real negative we could find was some extraneous TV noise could be heard from adjacent rooms, and it was not unbearable by any means.

Nice property and kinda sits away from all the traffic areas. Manager informed me that they just put new beds in and they are great. Best night sleep in a long time. Love the Native American decor.
