“Great traditional inn”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

Myself and Partner have just come back from a weekend break at the Harp Inn and to be honest I do not know where to start.
We were made very welcome on our arrival, the couple who have the Harp Graham and Jane make you feel at home. The Harp serves traditional Ales as well as normal beers so the is a great variety to enjoy.
The food is beautifully cooked By Jane and it is all Homed cooked. The rooms are all neat and tidy
and we had great veiws overlooking the River Wye.

Myself and Partner Steve will be going back again without fail, and we would recommend the Harp to anyone would wants to stop at a very friendly Inn. plus you get to meet some very nice local people . Thanks Graham and Jane for a great weekend hopefully will see you soon

We stopped at the Harp Inn at the start of our honeymoon canoe trip. The accommodation was clean, had excellent views and spacious enough for us, two dogs and all our equipment. We received a more than friendly welcome and the landlords went beyond the call of duty to help us start our canoeing trip on the river the next day. I would thoroughly recommend the Harp Inn to anyone wishing to stop in the area, or wishing to eat as the food was splendid and the atmosphere vibrant and busy. We would also definitely recommend the Harp Inn over neighbouring accommodation who were much less accommodating to our needs.

Stayed overnight while attending an event locally. Wish we'd eaten here as the menu looked excellent rather than the muck we had to eat!
Clean and quiet room, low ceilings as is common in older buildings, great view of the river.
Hosts were lovely people, we just made last orders and had a nice chat over a swift pint before bed.
If you're in the area you won't go far wrong here.

A great welcome from the owners that set the bar for the entire stay. We had arranged to meet our daughter with her new boyfriend and we all really enjoyed ourselves. After checking into our spotlessly clean rooms we headed out into the sunshine and explored Glasbury on foot. The river was very tempting for a swim, but we used it as our guide for our long walk.

When we got back to the pub the landlord had reserved a table for us for dinner, which was just as well as the place was heaving with locals and tourists alike.

The food we ate and the ales we drank were spot on. A lot of care and attention goes into The Harp, in all that it does.

We will be going back for sure!

I arrived at the Harp Inn with my wife after hiking just over 4 miles on the Wye Valley Walk - having started from Hay on Wye. A fantastic walk - and we were expecting a hearty lunch with a drink or two to quench our thirst. After we had spent a few minutes studying the menu on the blackboard we were told by the landlord that his cook had just left (it was 1 30 pm) and he would therefore not be able to offer us any food. So I said that was fine but asked if we could buy a baguette from the garage next door to eat with our drinks - not expecting him to say No. But he did say No and, when I asked him why not, he had no explanation. Just that it was his policy - even though he could offer no food and it was lunchtime. Needless to say, we took our custom elsewhere and he lost our trade. The two customers who were there at the bar looked as surprised as us by the landlord's attitude. We went round the corner to the River Cafe where we had a great meal. Perhaps the landlord could learn a lesson or two from them on how to run his pub?

Thank you for your review Mike. I am sincerely sorry you felt we could not provide you with good service on your visit to our public house. On that particular day my wife's mother was suddenly taken ill and had to leave in a hurry and we were therefore unable to offer lunch at the time of your visit. Similar to most food providers our policy is not to encourage customers to eat their own food on the premises. I am pleased that our colleagues along the road were able to offer you sustenance on this occasion.

Always stay here and it never disappoints , the rooms are clean and functional , and the menu is always excellent , spoilt for choice every-time we stay.
Lovely location down by the river.
The breakfasts are fantastic and a bonus that the produce is locally sourced.
Friendly hosts, very hospitable and always willing to go the extra extra mile.
