“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2013 via mobile

Me and my wife visited while on holiday. My wife who is NOT interested in militaria had a great time and really enjoyed our guided tour. The staff were great, very informative and had great stories. Highly recommended.

“The NPS Volunteers rock!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2013

Once a month they have an extended staffed day. These volunteers love to tell their stories and how it was like when the stations were operational. One volunteer's wife even made many containers of wonderful cookies for the toursists!

“Don't miss this, but be careful of the hrs!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2013

This place is only open Wed-Fri 12:30-3:30pm, but it is worth adjusting your schedule to hit it. I think they do tours at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. we lucked out and got there a few mins before 1pm. We were a little put off at first bc we could not find anyone around and weren't sure where to park, but the older guy that worked there was fantastic and glad we stayed!!! He was really nice and gave an incredible tour! You could tell he was very passionate about it. It's definitely not to be missed seeing that this is the only one in the entire country that you can actually tour! BTW, the tour lasted about 45 mins, but it was super cool and free!

“A Look into the Cold War”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2012

This is a really interesting stop if you are interested in history and the politics of the Cold War. Unfortunately, they have limited hours of operation, but remember, they are FREE (a rarity in San Francisco). The tour lasted a bit over an hour and started in a building that housed a decommissioned missile with various other small displays. There was a short movie followed by a tour of the grounds, and a comprehensive talk about events of the Cold War. The tour concluded with a ride in the missile elevator to the magazine, and an up-close look at a series of the Nike Missiles. This really was a great experience, and the only place where you can still see an installation like this one.

“Interesting part of cold war history and great park rangers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2011

A very well preserved Nike Missle sight where you can get hands on and go into the inner workings of a very important part of US History. The park rangers in charge are informative and eager to explain and show you how everything was. Well worth one hour of your time and very close to the visitors center. Normally only open Wednesday -Friday 1200-330 and on the first Saturday of the year so plan accordingly.
