“great ski hotel”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

Hotel was good only drawback was 4 of us in a family room - which was just a normal room with no balcony and a pull out bed.-
food both breakfast and evening meals - choice and quality was great.
Bit pricy but we added the extra for the meals and it was well worth the additional #100 odd pounds.

We stayed at Melia Sierra Nevada for 3 nights. The minute we arrived we knew it would be a good stay for we had an excellent welcome. The restaurant was waiting for us to arrive (it was past 10h00 pm) and they ensured nothing was removed until we were finished.
The hotel is clean and nice; there are plenty of rest areas for adults and kids flow freely between the bar and kids club and the play room. Every member of the staff ensures you have the best of your stay, for they are all extremely polite. The pool is beautiful with outside views and spa areas as just as nice.
The buffet is very diverse and the cheff ensures that you do not get bored eating always different menus.
The teleski is 3 min away from the ski lockers entrance (count on a couple of stairs too).
I believe it might be one of those reviews where everthing is so perfect you feel it can't be true, but that's exacly how it happened, mainly because all the staff at the hotel is determine to make you feel confortable.
All and all, I truly believe this is the choice to make if you want a nice, comfortable and friendly hotel to stay with your family in Sierra Nevada.

Our 3rd time at this hotel. Centrally located with parking(extra), food is very good and rooms fully equipped. The staff are friendly and attentive. Rooms with Mountain View have the afternoon sun. The only drawbacks are the prices of the alcohol (beer 4.60e and cheapest Rioja in the restaurant 18.6e). Also since we were here 5 years ago there are many more small children in the hotel so if you want a good night's sleep after skiing it's difficult with the kids running up and down the corridor. Overall though a very good base in Sierra Nevada. ( if your not a light sleeper)

Room Tip: go for a mountain view room or junior sleep

We're staying here at the moment, 2 couples in 2 double classic room, 2 nights Fri to Sun. I paid 838 euros for both including breakfast.
Positives are:
Great location and very friendly and helpful staff everywhere. Breakfast is okay but don't expect to be overwhelmed. Try the freshly made to order omelettes.

Additionally..

There are many prior reviews citing the spa additional cost, the rules regarding wearing caps etc and these are still relevant today.
The parking cost is 24 euros per day.
Bar prices are consistent with these types of hotels, high at first glance but the measures are generous.
The restaurant provides for a 39 euro per person evening buffet so I expect you can eat till you drop and this could represent reasonable value for some.

All the above are optional items though.

The major negative:

For 200 euros per night I expect to have decent night sleep in the hotel. However the classic rooms' sound proofing is non existent and you can easily take part in a rom to room conversation without leaving your own room. The last thing you want after a long tiring day skiing is a night of interrupted sleep. And it's not that the people are necessarily noisy. The walls are paper thin.
I reported this to the reception desk and was offered another room in a higher floor but I could still hear the next room conversations. The staff have acknowledged this as an inherent problem with these types of rooms.

As far as the resort is concerned, it is truly scenic, well-run and I will be here next year. But I will stay in a place where I can sleep.

Stayed at this hotel beginning of March 2014 for 2 nights and thought the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great choice for breakfast - everything you could think of.
Not sure if you needed to request robes for the pool but they were not in the room. For the price, I would have expected this.
We had to turn the radiator off as the rooms were boiling hot but that is not a negative, just an observation.
We had a mountain view room which was fabulous to wake up to of a morning but the hotel was very expensive for just 2 nights.

Stayed at this hotel from the 24th fen till the 27th stayed the first night in room at the rear on the 5 floor needed to have window open due to lack of air in room and heating been on constant only to be awake till 4.00am due to nightclub opposite. We were moved to the 7th floor rear room again and we're told that we would not get any noise this was not true as up again till 4.00am.You need the windows open as there is know secondary ventilation to these rooms which I find extraordinary for this standard of hotel in 2014

We also requested bathrobes 6 times both from the spa and reception but non we're forthcoming

Hotel is in a ideal location and at the time of being there at peak season very full but seems that the hotel staff have difficulty in providing a high standard of care and attention to all customers and I would reccomend if you want a good night sleep do not stay in the rear rooms
