“Bad reception and noisy - good location!”
Reviewed 9 January 2014

As soon as we arrived to Ziryab we were impressed with its location. However, as we were checking in, we got disappointed with the overall reception. First, there is no wifi in the rooms, second, the receptionist was rude.
The rooms were clean! Breakfast was decent.
The worst of all was the noise. I would wake up several times, every morning, with loud noises coming from the hallway. Maybe their wall are too thin. I'm not sure what was going on, I just know that I have never stayed in a hotel with so much noise!!!

just got back from a few days in Sierra Nevada where we stayed for the 5th time at hotel Ziryab. As usual the WIFI which these days is very important to most travellers was very hit and miss, the tv in the rooms is tiny and the rooms even with radiators off and windows open were still too warm to make it comfortable to sleep in. The restaurant and bar staff were great, really hard working and friendly. However it was a large contrast to the reception staff and whom I presume was the manageress. We left the Hotel a day early as the weather wasnt too great, but they would make no discounts even on the breakfasts that would not be eaten. However our biggest complaint was that we were charged for 3 adults at the gala dinner although we had a 15 year old with us that would obviously not be drinking any of the alcohol that was included or be allowed to eat 3 of the dishes as they contained alcohol. Before the dinner we went to the reception to check that he would only be charged as a child and the male receptionist checked on the computer and said yes. When it came to checking out I was very annoyed to see that he had been charged a full adult price of €136, however the manageress would not agree to give any discount at all and was quite rude to us. I think this will be the last time we use the Ziryab for our skiing trips.

We often go to Sierra Nevada and try different hotels. Even though this is only a 3 star it's no different to some of the higher rated hotels we have stayed in, in the resort. location is superb right in the centre of the resort and car park is just below the hotel so ideal for lugging all your ski stuff. Rooms are a bit dated but comfortable and clean. My only criticism would be that the hotel can be noisy. We were on the 3rd floor and the corridor outside was quite busy with people just walking up and down. If your a light sleeper something to consider. Aside from that staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was great. I would stay here again good value for money and ideal location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lifts and avoid second floor as that's where the parking is

This is a 3 star hotel and you get a 3 star service, no more nor less. But it is expensive and you will pay as a 4 or 5 star. The location is very convenient quite close to the main cable car. You can use a public parking (also very expensive) with direct access to the hotel. Rooms are ok. Check in can take a lot of time with an unbeliveble paper work. acoustic insulation is really ppor and you hear loud and clear your neighbour using the toilet and having shower.

Room Tip: Lobby and recprion are at level 0, restaurant, coffe bar and lounges at levet -1, and rooms leves -2...

This was our second stay here. This hotel is in a superb location with outstanding views, great breakfast and good facilities for families. The rooms are very comfortable if a little small. The lounge area is a playground for kids and a meeting place for all those who want to connect with the internet as it is the only place with free wifi - it is a shame there is not wifi in all rooms, although this does actually create a lovely family atmosphere in this area.
The hotel has dedicated parking - but it is not cheap - 20 euros per day. The best aspect is that the hotel is within close walking distance of all the ski amenities, including the ski-lifts.
Breakfast is impressive and has all you could wish for - except really hot water to make a decent cup of tea - stick to the coffee!
The only drawback with this hotel is the cost which is very high but it is just about worth it given all the positive aspects above.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on level -1 for the best views.

Stayed there for a weekend in February with my son. Very nice experience. We stayed on All inclusive basis and buffet style dinners were very good with decent choice, good seafood and salads, excellent local desserts. I agree with others, the hotel is a bit strange as it comes to finding your room, two lifts and long corridors, it is a bit of a maze, we didn't mind but for anybody not very fit or injured (yes, it's skiing resort) this may be a problem. They struggled a bit at the reception, check-in took quite a long time, in my opinion they were understaffed. The location is great for skiing, you can walk to the lifts via an underground car park, get your skis from the ski room located at the end of it and take a lift straight to the gondola. Altogether great value for money, rooms could do with a bit of an update but if you get a good deal you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Get a room as close to the reception/restaurant as possible. Some rooms are very far and you may nee...

My daughter and I stayed at the ziryab for a ski break - it was a great location, the staff were really helpful and parking was very handy. Given its underground access to the car park and the car park's connections to the village, it was also a handy way to get around when there was snow/slush/rain on the ground!

Room Tip: 324 was OK - handy for the elevators!
