“Lovely Hotel!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2014

We loved this hotel, it's in a great location where you can ski in & out. The room was modern & comfortable with a decent bathroom. We had a balcony looking on to the slopes which was lovely. The staff were very helpful, we'd like to stay here again, certainly one of the best we've stayed at in Sierra Nevada.

We stayed one night in this hotel, for one day of skiing, the hotel is comfortable, bar overlooks the slopes, very comfortable, v small car park, but we parked on the road a little way away, but it wasn't a problem. Staff very accommodating, facilities to shower once you've checked out if needed. Shuttle bus available, but it's really only a short walk to the centre. Worth a visit x

A great reception form all the staff and the rooms were modern and luxurious compared to most ski resort accomadation in my opinion. Situated right on the piste with great views of the slopes and only a short walk to chair lift down to village. Breakfasts were good but the evening meal a little poor. The snack menu avaiable at the bar from 12 till late is sufficient for most tastes. Great lounge area with open fire. Remember if you are planning to park your car in the Hotel parking, probably wise to have some snow chains !!

Great hotel, great location, staff very helpful and nothing is too much, ski hire is a stones throw away and lift passes are available in the hotel.
There is a car park located straight outside the front door and a shuttle available, however, we did not need to use it.
There is a 15 min walk to the centre but there is a lift within a 5 min walk, but this shuts at 17:30 so getting down after this time is a little tricky. I would recommend staying in the hotel and having a cold beer or glass of wine by the open fire place.
The ski in , ski out is perfect as the hotel is located on a blue run but is very easy to get to a green or a red depending on your level. If you are less experienced skier, the lift up from the centre is a possible option.
The rooms are light and airy our room looked over the Maribel run and had a lovely walk in shower and the room was a lovely temperature through out.
We stayed two nights on half board, the breakfast is of a good standard and eggs, bacon are available as well as a very good choice of fresh pastries, yogurts and cold meats.
We had lunch at the hotel both days, served on the outside patio, selection of hot sandwiches/pizza/salads. Cruzcampo is the draft larger and is very welcoming after a long day skiing.
The evening menu is off a set menu with a good selection of dishes.
I've been to the Sierra Nevada many times and the hotel is the best there and the services are perfect for relaxing and skiing.
Thanks for a brilliant couple of days,
Adam

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a room looking over the slope

We stayed 4 nights in HG Maribel and it were a good vacations.
This is good hotel with a good location, we can get out and get in skiing, and this is one of the important point for us in snow hotels.
Besides that if you want to go to main plaza after 17:30 you need to go by foot or by car (15 to 20 min by foot)
Inside the hotel is very nice, the room has a lot of space, small spa (not free, no pool).
Regarding meals, the breakfast is good but if the room is full it's a big confusion with all people walking around. Dinner is very good (it isn't a buffet) we had to choose from a 3-course menu different each day from 3 different choices except desert that were only 2 options.
Another good point is that you don't have to pay for parking your car, it has space in front the hotel to park.
Staff were nice, both at check in and out and at restaurant.
If there is a big quantity of snow in Sierra Nevada be carefull because the sign that identifies the hotel becomes covered and you cannot understand easely where his the main entrance.

Lovely hotel, great location, family room excellent, food good, staff friendly. Only problem is that if you go in to the centre of town in the evening you have to drive as there are no taxis in Sierra Nevada - which we found out and had to walk uphill in the freezing cold at 11pm (a good half hour walk!)

This was our first trip up to the Sierra Nevada and it was amazing! The most snow they had had in 5 years apparently and it had stopped snowing 2 hours before we got there so the roads actually in the resort were a bit on the slippy side but all main roads gritted and perfect.. we had no chains on and the car was fine! Hotel was lovely once we found it, had a brilliant room with views of the piste and village, it even had a mezzanine floor for the children to sleep in! Only issue was the bus was so late to collect from the square after a day in the snow but think that could have been down to so many people trying to dig their cars out of the snow. All in all would go back and the hotel was very good, breakfast a bit boring though! but would recommend especially if you ski as you can ski from outside the front door!

Room Tip: room 213! looks out onto slopes and village and is huge even has a mezzanine floor for the children...
