“Great B&B...more of a boutique hotel really...”
Reviewed 4 August 2013

We just spent a week here and thoroughly enjoyed the place. The owner was installing new carpet in the main house, so we only were able to stay in the main house for three nights before we had to switch rooms to the kitchen dependency (courtyard rooms). It truly is worth the extra coin to stay in the main house. Architecturally, it is stunning - perhaps one of the best examples of antebellum mansions, and certainly the most picturesque. We stayed in Room 401 (Robert E. Lee suite) for the first few nights and then Room 202. My wife was blown away by the Robert E. Lee suite. It was complete with a wonderful period Teester bed and full bath. Plus, it's only a few feet away from the wonderful second floor balcony...complete with rockers. Awesome. Room 202 was well apportioned...but more casually classy than the dressed-up main house. We were happy with both. Breakfast each morning is complimentary...they have continental in the main house and "big breakfast" in the Castle restaurant a few feet away. The breakfasts were good, and dinners were exceptional. I feel I can say with some authority that the Castle is the best restaurant in town. Natchez doesn't have many restaurants to start with, and of the seven we went to, this was simply the best. There is a pool behind the Castle. It was refreshing, but the deck chairs could use a new coat of paint and the cushions are well faded and needed to be replaced/recovered. Oh, and there's a proper Bocce court there too. Well done Dunleith. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. Were I to return to Natchez, I'd stay here in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Pay the extra money to stay in the main house. You won't be disappointed. We really liked Room 4...

My boyfriend and I decided to go on a weekend getaway and tried our luck once again to get a room at Dunleith. We were fortunate that a room was available for two nights at the second floor of the Main House! So off we go! We arrived close to midnight. The sight of the mansion that welcomed us was so grand that made our 6-hour plus drive become suddenly all worth it. Check-in was quick. Our room did not disappoint. We saw what we expected. Considering the age and history of the property and the numerous tours it has seen, I must admit the mansion is well-maintained and managed. Terry, the mansion host, is a wealth of information about the history of Dunleith, and the whole town. He offered several recommendations on where to go, where to eat and places not to miss. The house tour is a must. Breakfast comes with the room. There were two options available; continental breakfast at the Main house or buffet breakfast at The Castle Restuarant and Pub, which the the property's popular restaurant. We highly recommend their buffet breakfast. Service very efficient and food is excellent. We also had dinner at the same restaurant but it was a bit disappointing. Service was slow (we noticed they have a different service crew compared to the morning group), wine was bad (which they happily replaced), food was below expectations. We also tried their afternoon tea/cocktails. Dia,the bartender, was very friendly and personable. Hors d'oeuvres were offered (free of charge). There was a decent size pool at the back of the restaurant. Overall, we had a pleasant and very relaxing stay at this place. Perfect for a weekend getaway. We will be back!!!

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the Main House. We never stayed at the other rooms but the main house transport...

We took the free tour here which you can do if you stay at Dunleith or a local B&B and/or eat in the restaurant and ask nicely. It was well worth the time to learn about the house and the family behind it. The tour guide was super knowledgeable and the tour lasted around an hour with questions. Its a must do.

About the house, the house is well kept and the grounds are beautiful and I just know that staying here or having an event here would be something you would remember for a long time. All that said, if you have the time and the credentials (see first line of the review) then take the tour, it's great.

This property was simply gorgeous. I stayed in one of the courtyard rooms for two nights on a business trip, and it was a great stay. The bartender at the cocktail hour, Carol, was super friendly and helpful with drinks and any other questions my party had. The rooms were so so nice, with a personal Keurig in each room, a corkscrew, and complimentary water. The wireless internet was a good speed, but you wouldn't want to use it and be stuck inside your room. The breakfast was outstanding, and when you check out, make sure you talk to Ms. Debbie. She was the best!
I cant' wait to come back here with my husband for a weekend getaway.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms are really nice, however, they will get extremely warm. They provide an A/C unit per...

You could not ask for a better experience in historic Natchez. Everything about the property is awesome. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone going to Natchez. The Castle Restaurant on the property is the best by far in the city. The chef does an excellent job. The manager of the restaurant was extremely helpful in setting up our business meeting.

Room Tip: I would recommend staying in the main house for sure. The courtyard rooms are great, but the main ho...

I was invited to attend a wedding at Dunleith in Natchez Mississippi. We stayed at the property and truly it was a memorable experience. They did a fantastic job and have the facilities to really have a perfect wedding. It was the same weekend as the masters tournament and you can't help but to compare the two venues. The magnificent grounds and trees are truly beautiful. The staff at the front desk greeted us like we were family with signed notes of greetings. I was so impressed with their hospitality that i took note of their name for Trip Advisor. Shawn and Judy are an asset to this property. Our room was right off the main house which was at one time the slave or caretaker quarters. The bed was very nice with 7 feather pillows. The cost was very reasonable for such accommodations. Free tours are given for guests which give the history of this site. The gentlemen that gave the tour was excellent, don't miss that perk. The restaurant and adjoining pub were great. I have no complaints at all about this historic home and its staff and facilities.

A party of four of us stayed in room #301. I cannot say enough good things about this property. Not only is it beautiful, but the staff made our stay most enjoyable. The bed and linens were the most comfortable I have ever experienced in an inn.
