We stayed in the gallery room Memorial Day weekend. The room (actually a 2 room suite) was very spacious and comfortable. Beautifully decorated historic houe. Private front balcony was nice place to read or have coffee. The backyard is well landscaped and had several fountains, seating areas and was really inviting. Breakfasts were great--one day eggs benedict casserole and the next, a peach French toast--both really tasty. Ron and Eleanor were friendly and helpful with reservations, recommendations ,etc.

This is by far the best b&b we have ever stayed in. We had the Elmo room in Aunt Clara's cottage and it was huge. The bed was amazing and everything was so clean. The breakfasts were fantastic but most of all the owners Ron and Eleanor go out of their way to make your visit perfect. They know all the Pisces to send you, will make the reservations or will take the time to just plain chat with you. The people you meet are also great and there is nothing like a glass out on the verandah keeping cool

The accommodations were entirely in keeping with the expectations that one would have for a first-class B&B. Our room in Aunt Clara's cottage was spacious and very nicely decorated. The staff was friendly and congenial and the breakfast was very nice. Unfortunately, we were able to stay only one night.

In particular, we very much appreciated the attention that was paid to us by host Ron Fry when we first arrived. He went out of his way to describe the history of the home and cottage, to describe the amenities available at the property and to suggest area activities that might possibly be of interest during our brief stay.

The house and cottage are located in a pleasant section of Union Street -- an easy walk to downtown Natchez and also an easy walk to a "bluff walk" overlooking the Mississippi River.

We highly recommend the Devereaux Shields Home.

A classy establishment indeed, in a beautiful town. the house is a fine old mansion. The proprietor, Ron, is very helpful and informative. Breakfasts are in his other house across the road, called Aunt Clara's Cottage, and are not to be missed.

We were fortunate to spend 3 nights in Natchez at the Devereaux Shields House / Aunt Clara's Cottage the middle of April 2014. Everything was beyond expectations. There were 8 of us and we occupied the 4 bedrooms at Aunt Clara's Cottage. Rooms were clean and large. Beds were great. Bathrooms clean. Breakfast each morning was outstanding. Our hosts were very friendly and wanted to make sure everything was good. Highly Recommend. Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Louise Suite, but I think all the rooms were good.
