We stopped in Wiarton on our way home from Cottage Country to find some quick fish and chips.
Found this place at main beach area on Canada Day and decided to "sit in" the "restaurant" to eat our fish and chips instead of ordering from the take-out window.
Place looked good enough, except washrooms were atrocious, but I gave that a pass since it was a tourist "burger joint" kind of place.
The service and food was a disaster.
We learned that another table of 4 people near us were red in the face frustrated when we sat down because they had still not received their order after one hour. When their food came, they got their food piece-meal; all four weren't even served at the same time.
There was only a total of 8 customers in this 30 seat restaurant.
There were 4 VISIBLE staff working the kitchen area and another staffer roaming the place restocking soda cans and doing nothing else.
There was NO LINEUP OUTSIDE at the takeout window, but somehow, anyone who came to the takeout counter inside or outside was served before us.
After 50 minutes of staring at our empty glasses, 4 of us were served cold, poorly cooked food that was brought out piece-meal - one plate of food then one plate of fries, then wait 5 minutes, then fries, then food - and without apology!
Were we there on a bad day? It was Canada Day and the cooks were wearing fuzzy gimmick hats and jewellery, a clear violation of HACCP rules.
I don't see how anyone hasn't shared a similar story.
I thought, "There's no way this place could be on Trip Advisor, but I am certainly going to add it!" We were flabbergasted how a tourist driven business like this could even be in business let-o-lone have any decent ratings on Trip Advisor.
