We came here to celebrate a birthday and from the time we arrived to the time we left we were made to feel as though we were the only two people at this resort (obviously we weren't) they aim to meet your every need at any hour of the day. The views from the private rooms are spectacular. And the golf is amazing

Dear crm519

Thank you so much for choosing Royal Isabela to celebrate such a special occasion as your birthday, and even though you were not the only two people at the resort, for us you were. We hope you will return soon so that you can once again relax in our lovely casitas, be challenged by our world class golf course and be pampered by our wonderful team.

Words cannot describe how beautiful and amazing this resort is, which is why I have included so many photos. We've stayed at some pretty amazing places and the villa here was one of the best yet. We are not golfers, we were just there to relax and the experience was incredible.
The resort has lowered their rack rates, which is really smart; it’s still very exclusive but a little more affordable. You fly into Aguadilla, which is far better than San Juan airport. It’s small and you get in and out fast. The hotel is only 25 minutes away and you don’t have to deal with the city-like hustle and bustle of San Juan. It is much more of a relaxing tropical paradise. You don’t need a passport to get here – I've been waiting for a place like this to come along for a long time.
Overview:
There are 20 Casitas or “little houses” and you get your own separate, unattached house with a pool, patio, bedroom, living room and gigantic bathroom. There is no need to leave your house at all unless you want to. We stayed for 4 days and it was just not enough. I could stare at the view forever. The pool is heated so you can sit in it and relax all day and night. The shower must be 12 feet wide with 2 shower heads on either side and a rain shower in the middle. You can open up the doors completely and have an indoor / outdoor shower overlooking the tropical landscape and ocean.
Room:
The interior of the room is all dark hardwood, very spacious, spotlessly clean and stunning. You can watch TV on 2 large flat screens either in your living room or bedroom. The doors open up completely here as well so you have an indoor / outdoor living room. The bed and bedding are very comfy. The bathroom is all Travertine tile and marble. There is a large and deep soaking tub and a separate room with a toilet. You get robes and full size spa-like toiletries. Lots of drawers and closet space. We brought our baby and they had a beautiful sleigh crib set up for us.
Service:
The service was incredible. Anything you needed they would bring. We needed an infant high chair as opposed to the toddler one they had and they went out and bought one. We asked for scissors or laundry bags or ice and they brought it right over. We ordered drinks (which were very well made) and the bartender brought those to our room too.
Restaurant:
The restaurant was great and all the food was fresh & delicious. Every meal I had was great. Breakfast is included in the room rate and it was more than enough to satisfy your appetite for hours. The other food was well priced.
Pool, Beach & Amenities:
There is also a main pool which was lovely and quiet as everyone has their own pools. The beach is secluded and picturesque but the waves are rough as they are on the north of the island which is known for surfing (it is said to be much calmer in the summer and there another section that is calmer which we didn't go to). It is a bit of a trek to get to the beach down lots of stairs (which you have to walk up to get back to the hotel so keep that in mind if you have trouble with stairs). That being said, if you want to spend a day at the beach, you can have them set up chairs and umbrellas for a fee (which makes sense when realize that they have to carry it down all those stairs for you). Normally I’m a beach person who likes a beach right out my door but with the views and the private pool and gorgeous villa I didn't miss is at all. I happened to find the trek fun as it takes you through a tropical landscape.
They arranged for a massage and pedicure for me at my casita which I had outside on the patio. The therapist brought aromatherapy oils and music making the experience very relaxing. The Therapist and pedicurist were both excellent.
There is free self-Laundry, free parking, a lap pool, gym and tennis courts. While they will pick you up in a golf cart and take you anywhere, everything is in walking distance. The main building where the restaurant, bar, library and concierge are located is beautiful and much nicer than in the photos.
Again, while we didn't golf the golf course and facilities looked top-notch.
I truly can’t wait to return and cannot say enough about how amazing this place is. I expect to see it on the Travel & Leisure top hotels list and Conde Nast gold list at some point soon.

Room Tip: Casita 3 or 4 have amazing views and the patios are very private.

My husband and I recently went to Royal Isabela for our honeymoon; a friend of ours had highly recommended we go. We have traveled to many places throughout the world and can honestly say that this is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. The grounds are gorgeous and the attention to detail is unsurpassed, you can tell the owners spared no expense. The restaurant had delicious reasonably priced food and fresh organic veggies! (they have their own garden). There is even a library where you can borrow books or a board game or two.
Even though there are 20 "casitas" in all and a large friendly staff, you feel as if you have the whole place to yourself. Our casita in particular was very secluded and romantic. Beautiful handcrafted furnishings adorned every nook of the space and there was a huge indoor/outdoor shower with a large soaking tub. Outside on the patio was a wonderful dipping pool complete with a private path to a small deck where we could stargaze or quietly read a book!
We feel there is no better place to relax and spend quality time together (In our humblest opinion).
As for the beautiful golf course and tennis courts... We were on our honeymoon so we will have to write a new review next time we go!

Room Tip: If you want an especially romantic and secluded stay, try and book "casita" 20. It is nick...

If you're looking for a great golf resort then this should be the best one in Puerto Rico. Aside from the beautiful new course, the location on the cliffs overlooking the ocean is amazing and each room is a private villa with a huge bathroom and a completely private terrace with a personal plunge pool overlooking the ocean. The resort also has A larger pool for the guests which is really nice as well. Other than golf lovers, it would be a great place for corporate retreats or couples looking for an extremely quiet getaway. The place is surrounded by a nature reserve so working around the property is really nice. There is also a trail to take you through a beautiful canyon down to a little private beach cove and if you take about a five-minute drive you can get to an amazing beach with hardly anybody there.

Royal Isabela is an absolutely great experience for any visitor. The staff, the food, the casitas, the services, the views, the attention to detail, the whole overall concept of the resort are all top of the line. Private and exclusive, Royal Isabela is just not for golf. It is a first class resort to unwind, relax, and escape to enjoy the finer things in life. The privacy is unmatched. Perhaps one of the most enjoyable components of staying there is the obvious commitment of all staff to the concept of Royal Isabela. The green initiatives, the organic on site vegetable and herb production, the cleanliness and friendliness, the overall package. The staff acted as a team, all committed to excellence. I recommend a stay at Royal Isabela, and if possible, a round of golf, to anyone. It is near perfection for a resort.

Room Tip: We stayed in Casita 8 which was very private and had a wonderful view, but I don't think you can...

My husband and I visited Royal Isabela in early November with 5 other couples. After reading all of the wonderful reviews we wondered if Royal Isabela could possibly be as nice as rated. The resort surpassed our expectations in every way. It is obvious everywhere you look that so much planning and effort went into the layout and design of the resort. From our Casita (#9) we could not see another casita or the golf course. Instead we looked out through a gorge to the ocean. Inside the casita the furnishings and finishes were beautiful and we would have been happy to just relax in this perfect spot but the golf course completes the experience. The course is challenging but the spectacular views and friendly and patient caddies made it enjoyable for the less experienced golfers in our group. The staff members were all very friendly and attentive and the food at La Casa was exceptional. We are looking forward to returning.
