Really welcoming and lovely hosts. Don´t eat out, have your dinner there with your private view of the sea. Zunilda is happy to cook anything you want and her food is really delicious, everything freshly cooked from scratch. The room upstairs is the best with its own terrace and swings. Breakfast is served on that same terrace and will last you the whole day. She is happy to arrange taxis for you and the taxis were decently priced and reliable.
The house is slightly off of the city centre, but is just around the corner from the Palacio de Valle which is highly recommended to see. If you haggle right, a bicycle taxi to the city centre can cost you 2 to 3 CUC.

Room Tip: The room upstairs with its own terrace is strongly recommended. Stay longer to guarantee the room.

This is a really great casa with great hosts! The location is amazing (literally right on the water) with the most stunning views across the bay on both sides of the casa. Sunrise and sunset are so beautiful. We were very fortunate to have the upstairs room with it's own terrace where we ate breakfast and evening meals. The food was also really great!

Zunilda and Raya are incredibly warm and friendly people who do their upmost to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Raya was great at organising taxis for us to Rancho Luna (for the delfinario and beach) and to El Nicho (a lovely short walk through the forest to a beautiful waterfall where you can swim) where the taxi driver took us to the park (about a 45 minute drive one way), waited for us for 2.5 hours and then drove us home (via his house which was on the same road and we were given fresh avocados and guavas!) for 50 CUC.

I definitely recommend this hostel. It is not in the centre of town so you do need to take a taxi or bicitaxi or be prepared to walk it, which is what we did most of the time (half an hour to the main square max). It is a nice walk along the malecón and it is not difficult.

Muchísimas gracias Zunilda y Raya! Fue un placer quedarnos con ustedes y queremos volver lo antes posible!

I love to be near the sea, and this charming house literally has the sea lapping at the very pretty garden. So relaxing to have meals outside, looking out to sea and across to the mountains. The family were very welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious. The bedroom was large and clean, with aircon, and en suite bathroom with a good hot powerful shower. We had the upstairs room at the back overlooking the garden, with our own balcony with rockers. The downstairs room at the front also overlooks the sea as this Casa is on a very thin strip of land. We went to a lagoon (guanaroca) nearby and saw flamingos and pelicans. Also went to El Nicho waterfall on the way from here to Trinidad. We would highly recommend staying here in Punta Gorda.

We actually stayed here in June 2013. We had a hospitable welcome from Zunilda & Raya, with fresh juice upon arrival, on the terrace looking out to a beautiful view. The bathroom was spotlessly clean, as was the room. Zunilda's cooking is delicious, as are Raya's mojitos. Both hosts were warm and friendly and although we do not speak Spanish, they made every effort to make us feel at home. In fact we extended our stay, and would have enjoyed staying longer if we had the time. Would love to stay here again, and meet Zunilda and Raya again. Gracias!

Room Tip: We were downstairs, and although we were offered the upstairs one when it became vacant, we declined...

Casa Zunilda y Raya is hands down our favourite stay in Cuba. If we could do it all over again, we'd definitely stay an extra night or two. The views from the house is stunning -- sunrise from the back, sunset from the front. It's on the strip of Punta Gorda that is just doors from the local beach (where the bar makes one of the best mojitos we've had on this trip). Zunilda and Raya were both super friendly and helpful. We were a bit early on our arrival, but they made us coffee, organized a driver to take us to the laguna, and later made us with fresh mango juice once are rooms were ready later in the morning. Our meals (breakfast & dinner) were very well present and delicious. After dinner, their friends came over to have dinner and we were invited to join and hang out. Truly lovely casa and hosts!

Room Tip: If you are going to venture out to the laguna, bring mosquito repellent and apply generously!

We were originally going to stay at a place in the centre of Cienfuegos that had been recommended by some friends, but they were full. Following a search of our trust trip advisor we settled on this Casa instead.

Our hosts were delightful, the room was spotless and overlooked the water. We could sit on the terrace and watch the pelicans and cormorants fishing in the bay.

Breakfast was generous and delicious and Ray was very helpful in organising transport into town.

Highly recommended.

We were travelling round Cuba as a group of 4 staying in Casas and enjoyed staying at Raya and Zunildas. Raya was a charming host and enjoyed showing us his home and making us fresh fruit juices. The 2 rooms were good. Beds were a tad hard but this is common in Cuba. Breakfast and dinner was good. The location is lovely. Zunilda arranged for a taxi ( old American car ) to take us to lake to see the flamingos and then the beach, which we enjoyed. Take mosi repellent if you go to the lake though. Cienfuegos is a low key place. The palacios is near the casa is good for a rooftop drink. The jagua ferry is not working and may not get fixed in the near future from what we gathered by the very helpful info tour worker in the main square.
Would recommend the casa - it is 35 cuc for a room which is more than other areas in Cuba (including Havana) but I think it's due to the nice location.
