Amazing pools with waterslides that take you from one pool to the next - fun for the kid in all of us. Hotel is older and dated. Lots of brass and old carpets that need to be replaced. Rooms are clean and beds are comfy. We used Hilton points to stay here and had a nice vacation. I would be say this hotel should be priced at $200 per night if I were paying to stay here.

Mr Matthew Bailey,
Managing Director, Grand Wailea Hotel

Aloha Mr Bailey,

My beautiful wife, Diana, and I would like to thank you for a wonderful honeymoon stay in your magnificent hotel. The room was truly magnificent and the view was spectacular!

From the time we were met at the front of your hotel by your valet service, we were made to feel as if we were family, not guests. Your customer service representatives at the front desk were very professional and courteous and they made every effort to ensure all our needs were met promptly.

While we were waiting for our room to be ready, we enjoyed a terrific lunch in your Bistro Molokini restaurant--something we will be enjoying frequently since we are kama’aina and have a home in Makawao.

Your pool was as magnificent as it looks. We had great fun unwinding in it after the affairs of the morning. It was always Diana's dream to be swimming in your pool and I'm glad we could make that dream come true. The waterslides are a blast, even for old kids, and the water elevator was simply amazing.

What can anyone say about HumuHumu's Restaurant? Dinner was truly a treat. We couldn't have imagined a more delectable repast exquisitely prepared and served. The sun setting over the ocean just added so much ambiance that we couldn't have asked for a more fitting end to a truly wonderful day.

Once again, thank you for helping to make our wedding day one which we will never forget. You can count on us repeating our stay on our anniversaries.

This is definitely not a hotel stay-it is the experience of a lifetime!! If you don't have fun here it is your own fault.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are really special and worth the price. Grand Wailea is without a doubt the finest hotel in the area. The views are really spectacular.

We have stayed at the Grand Wailea during our last two trips to Maui and I have to say, we love everything about this hotel. Sure, it's pricey, but it's Maui and worth every penny. From the moment the helpful gentlemen at the valet take your car, you feel like you are immediately whisked away to a Hawaiian paradise! We were greeted with a lei and the nearby employees were very accommodating and kind with taking a few pictures of us upon our arrival. Check in was a breeze and the delicious juice they have in the lobby was a fun treat to sip on while waiting. Initially, we were assigned a ground floor room but immediately asked for one on a higher floor due to us wanting to leave or doors open while we slept! The gentleman helping us was absolutely wonderful and switched us to a higher floor without a problem. Our room was absolutely gorgeous with an ocean view.
Now...the pools! We came for the pools and the pools only...and we don't even have kids!! We had seen this hotel on The Travel Channel and specifically stayed at this hotel because of the pools and what they had to offer. Yes, the pools are packed and if you don't arrive poolside before 10am, you may be left wandering the decks looking for pool chairs and a place to sit. It does fill up fast. With a little roaming, we always found a place! The water elevator was a blast, as were the little mini water slides that connected all the pools together. One day of our vacation we were in the pools the entire day! The poolside restaurant was great and our food was tasty. We ordered a specialty drink from the grotto bar in the yellow pineapple and whatever that was, was out of this world! My husband and I took advantage of the complimentary scuba class and he even attended the open dive following the introductory class. We ate at both Humuhumu and Bistro Molokini and both restaurants were delicious and our meals were served with impeccable service.
I can understand the sticker shock when initially booking this hotel, however, once you arrive and see what the Grand Wailea has to offer, you realize that this is not an ordinary hotel but one that will leave you speechless and with tons of memories. We look forward to our return visit on the 4th of july!

Room Tip: If visiting the pools is your thing, ask for a room close to them. If you are in the rooms off the lobby, it is quite a hike!

This hotel is amazing, firstly, its very big and over whelming at first, you really need afew days to get your bearings. The grounds and all common areas are immaculate! The rooms are spacious and immaculate with plenty of towels ect...in the bathrooms, beds very comfortable. The breakfast area is good but too small for such a large hotel and most mornings you have to wait for a table, which i was not impressed with! The pool areas for the kids is great with a tarzan rope swing add. The restaurants are ok, we mostly ate at the Four Seasons next door , they had great restaurants. If you want a Pool Cabana you should book it before you arrive as they are not easy to get , and they are great for the shade. The hotel spa is amazing!!!!

We got stuck here for one night when our flight was cancelled. We didn’t get checked in until 3 am, and we had to leave by 10 am to catch our flight, so take that into account when you read my review. The room we were given (Deluxe Garden category) was pretty dumpy. The sleeping area was an ok size for a king size bed, but was a bit small for two beds. It had a large bathroom and was probably very nice once upon a time, but that time is gone, and it’s in need of a renovation. It was mostly clean except for a dead bug on the floor and some dusty spots in the corners, but it was also run down. Some of the light bulbs were burnt out, and the ceiling fan rattled too much to be left on during sleeping hours. We had breakfast at the hotel buffet, and it was by far the worst buffet of any of the five hotels we’d stayed at during our Hawaiian vacation. Definitely not worth the price of admission. Earlier in the day, before our unexpected return due to the cancelled flight, we had wandered the grounds of this hotel and thought they were impeccable and quite lovely. The landscaping is neat, the beach is huge, and the pools looked like fun. The shopping corridor had some nice choices, and the reception area of the hotel seemed quite well maintained. If you’re planning to spend all of your time outside, this would be a fine place to do it. But if you care about the room and the food, this is definitely not the place. We spent our other four nights on this island at the Fairmont Kea Lani just down the road. We had spent quite a lot of time trying to decide between the Fairmont and the Grand Wailea before our trip, and I’m very glad now that we chose the Fairmont. I’d definitely choose the Fairmont again over the Grand Wailea now that I’ve witnessed both.
