Flat out, best family resort anywhere. We went once for a company conference and were so impressed we returned the next year with our three children, 10,13,15. From the moment we pulled in we were awed. The staff was phenomenal and extremely helpful. The rooms were beautiful, and while we had garden view, we were not disappointed. It was simply stellar. Literally you could never leave this resort and be completely thrilled with the experience (but it is Maui after all). Nevertheless, the food was great ( a bit pricey, but this is a world class resort), the pools are second to none. With kids, all the things to do from the slides, the water elevator, the rope swing, it was all just simply the best. The beach area was great too. PLENTY of chairs poolside with optional cabanas for rent, but not necessary as there are ample shaded areas if that's what you prefer. We did buy a discount dining book for the area to save on dinners. We are absolutely planning on returning...

Our stay at this wonderful hotel was just perfect. This is heaven, this is paradise! Indeed this is my favourite hotel worldwide. Our room was just gorgeous, the view wonderful and the premises are out of this world, really perfect! The hotel's team are all real masters of hospitality and when I met the General Manager I knew why. He is a great and adorable hotelier indeed. The service in this hotel is incredibly perfect and we tried the Humumu Restaurant and Alan Wong's. Both were an unforgettable culinary experience and the layouts of both restaurant are something you can find nowhere else. I treated myself for a wonderful spa experience (the best spa and the best massage I have ever seen) with a perfect Lumi Lumi massage. Also, I went to the hairdresser and Janine (Janice?, sorry forgot her name) gave me the best haircut and colour I ever had. I was so happy. She fully understood what I was looking for and her recommendations were just great. I hope to be back to paradise soon! Unforgettable experiences and memories...

The new Singaporean owners need to make some investments to return this extraordinary property to its former glory. Once a premium family experience, everywhere you turn there are chipped tiles, dingy carpets and predatory fees & prices. After 15 years of family vacations, we will wait for improvements before making a return visit. Highlights are the beach, the vistas, Kula Cafe and Amasia restaurant.

Stayed here 07/01-07/05/13. Simply magnificent in all respects. World class golf on property. Outstanding dining, and service always "above and beyond expectations". Should note the standard rooms (non-tower) at the end of the wings are a fair hike from the elevators. As expected, it was very expensive, but this was a multiple anniversary celebration.

This resort is expensive and the grounds are beautiful, but overall the experience we had was not pleasant. We arrived and were given a room in the Molokini wing with a Terrace view. This should be called the parking lot wing, because that is exactly the view you are paying for. We complained and were told we would be moved to a room with a view of the ocean, but we ended up in a Deluxe Garden view room (too bad she just couldn't have been honest). If we leaned over the balcony, we could see a glimpse of the ocean.

One of us decided to take a bath the second day and found pubic hair all over the top of the bathtub on one side. DIGUSTING. We called the front desk, and he said he would have it cleaned or move us to another room. He sent the cleaning lady, she wiped down the bathroom and left. Guess what? THE HAIR WAS STILL THERE!! Wow, I paid over $500 a night for this???

He then moved us to the Haleakala wing and we actually do have a view of the ocean. The person we dealt with the at the front desk was very nice and helpful with the situation, but it seems they should hire cleaning people who are actually required to clean the rooms.

I agree with the other reviewers regarding the pool area. I got up at 6:00 to run in the morning, but if someone wanted to sleep in on their vacation, they wouldn't be able to do so and get a chair at the pool here. They never came around to pick up towels or anyone's belongings while I was here, until they were cleaning up at the end of the day. The adult pool was literally falling apart, you could see all of the missing tiles.

I really think they should charge no more than $150 a night for the experience, and certainly not add on all of the additional fees for valets and resort fees. It just seems like we should have stayed at the Four Seasons, because the GW has really gone downhill. By the way, this is not our first stay here, we stayed for seven days in 2009. It was a better experience then, and I do not recall the pool issues nor cleanliness issues we experienced with this trip.

Room Tip: The chapel wing is excellent if you are at the very end and on a high floor (2nd or 3rd) for an ocean view. The Haleakala wing is very beautiful on the 8th floor, with a garden view below and a wonderful view of the ocean.
