Grand Wailea - A Waldorf Astoria Resort

We've been to Grand Wailea twice in two years. I love the gounds, so amazingly beautiful and serene, but the rooms are so outdated, and the beds are awful.

I love that there is a separate adults pool and it is strictly enforced. The other extreme pool area is a phenomenal place to swim with the kids. We always get a private cabana for guaranteed shade and a great view of the ocean. Also, the cabana comes with great service.

I love the food at Bistro Molokini, as lunch always tastes great and is of good quality. Alan Wong's is really a fun experience with great staff.

Snorkeling off the beach is just okay. The water is often murky. Better snorkeling is found in Kaanapali. But it's a great area to kayak.

Upon your arrival you’re greeted with a fresh lei as you enter the lobby which is an open beautiful garden. There is art work, statues, meandering ponds with koi and fountains. The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean and offer all the comforts you would expect from a 5 star resort.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The grounds, the art work, the location. They just can't get it right even with it now being a Hilton Waldorf Astoria. The staff is just doing their job, most of the time nothing more. We have stayed many times next door at the Four Seasons and it never fails to live up to our expectations. They should take a lesson after all they are right next door. Yes the Grand Wailea nickels and dimes you to death for everything. We love the Four Seasons but they took such a price increase that unfortunately we will no longer be able to stay there. So we make the best of it and stay here as it is still a beautiful property just not as good as it should be.

Stayed here for a week on an insurance company reward trip. We had an outstanding corner room up high with a view of the pacific. a wonderful breeze and the sound of the waves crashing. Walking into the outdoor lobby was a tropical garden of beauty, the service, the food, the lazy river and all of the water slides were a blast

Room Tip: Corner room facing the ocean

We visited back several months ago. My husband is a member and pays yearly to get discounted rates. I recently married him and this is a hotel he and his friends have frequented over the years. Honestly, I was very disappointed in the room, the spa, the food and everything. I have worked for an air line and traveled extensively. Unfortunately, I think the Grand Wailea has a gem of a location but is letting their property deteriorate. Sometimes this happens with a large facility but it doesn't have to as some companies have proven. Think outside the box a bit and add some amenities. Stop cutting corners and give your guests some extras. It just doesn't feel special here. The pool and resort feel is great but the rest needs some work.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the corner units with an ocean view.

Hotel is great. the only thing that are not quite fit our needs is, there are no snorkeling place near the hotel. Most of the activities needs to go out of hotel. Everything else is perfect for family vacationing.

Wow! From the moment we stepped foot into the check-in lobby (we were greeted with leis and necklaces), everything was wonderful. There is iced water and fruit juice (probably pineapple with guava) available while you wait. Check in was no problem.
The rooms - oh my goodness! They were beautifully apportioned - turn down service available if you like. Our views were great for beautiful sunsets!
The kids (17 and 13) fell in love with 2,900' of pools connected by water slides, tarzan ropes, and such. (Bracelets are required each day for pool-play).
The valets were always busy and wonderfully pleasant. A call-ahead service was available so you didn't have so much of a wait upon arrival at the curb. Two cold bottles of water were always stocked in the car upon entry.
A really wonderful experience and stay.
