“We've been missing out!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

As local residents, we usually steer clear of hotel restaurants as they are generally overpriced and offer standard (boring) menus. In the case of Ko, we've been missing out! Wish we discovered this Kama'aina-friendly restaurant earlier. In addition to the Kama'aina specials, we found the staff to be full of Aloha. Nick at the bar was wonderful during happy hour. Caipiroska cocktail was so good, I had to have two! We enjoyed the lumpia and the oishi sushi before moving into the restaurant for dinner service. Kama'aina sit on the high-tops to take advantage of the discount, which was fine. Dress casually as it is an open air restaurant and it gets very warm. The only thing we didn't enjoy about dinner was the fact that the sun was beating down on us. Though we will definitely be back, our next reservation will be just after sunset so we can be more comfortable. Recommend you dine when it is cooler. The bread service is fabulously creative. Lamb chop (as mentioned by others) was outstanding. Servings, including the pork chop entree, were extremely generous. Had the Ohana dessert so we could sample more than one. Favorite was the chocolate baked custard. We appreciated our server Corinne who was very efficient and the very warm and friendly bushelp Randy. Manager Tom also checked in on our table which was nice. It is definitely not an inexpensive meal, but one that is definitely worth it. Mahalo Ko for taking care of the Kama'aina.

“Expensive ”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014 via mobile

Ko at Fairmont Kia Lani is nice enough. Excellent service as on would expect at this price point. Food was very good. Setting- if you like to feel like you're in a 5 star resort then I guess it's your thing. Being Australian foodies and spoilt for choice with Asian cuisine this restaurant is definitely over priced for what it offers. Cost over $250 for 4 people (2 glasses of wine). It's good Asian food but I don't need to pay these prices for steamed fish. The restaurant seems to be taking advantage if it's captured resort market. We didn't go back.

Aloha and thank you for your honest review. While it's wonderful that you enjoyed the plantation-era inspired cuisine and the high level of service, it’s upsetting to learn that the overall value left you unimpressed. Please accept our sincere apology and consider returning in the future so we can provide an outstanding dining experience. Mahalo and best wishes.

“One of the best meals ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

Ko is wonderfully casual with sophisticated food and impeccable service. We had a group of 6, including 2 children and our waitress was superb. She and our server answered every question fully, which made our meals that much more enjoyable. We began with rolls and crackers along with different spreads-delicious. We also had calamari which was excellent. Everyone loved their meals; mine was a lavender shrimp dish that was incredible--absolutely one of the tastiest meals I've ever had. Worth every dollar.

I also have to mention that we enjoyed a young man playing guitar and singing as we ate. He was really good!

“Poor service and tasteless food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

I was definitely disappointed. It was our first day at the Kea Lani and we had high hopes for this place. I'm not sure what all the rave reviews are about. The service was so slow and it wasn't even crowded. The food was lacking in flavor and need more seasoning. We were going to schedule a Twilight Dinner for our anniversary, but once we realized it was catered by Ko, we decided to do something else.
