The program was great, the food not so, but still okay. Pay the few dollars extra for prime seats. We sat right up front and had a great time. Bring a jacket, though, sometimes the breeze gets cool.

Great outdoor venue and well preformed Luau Story. The open bar is included with your ticket. The food was well presented and prepared and proper temperature in the large four row buffet serving area. The food was the best tasting we have experienced at a Luau, well done! Want a great Luau experience, this is the one! Only downside, they need more restroom access closer to the venue.

While we don't have anything to compare to -- this luau was terrific.

We have a lot of food allergies, so we just assumed we would't do well with the buffet, but wanted the show/experience. On arrival, we let the staff know about our allergies, and they took care of it & brought us incredible meals, including an AMAZING banana pudding for dessert. Thank you Grand Wailea.

Other notes:
- buy tix at Costo.com to save $$
- location is incredible, this is a really beautiful hotel)
- our table was at the back row, but we still had a good view of the show, plus quick access to the open bar (thank you Makena Beach Hotel for the free shuttle, so glad we planned ahead and did not drive).

have fun !

We've been to this show a few times over the years and my husband now will only go for the show even though the price includes food.

The show is lovely with the traditional dancers, as well as a special surprise in the trees. I don't want to say what it is and spoil it, so if you haven't read about that part yet.. don't! Just go see the show.

Another fun part is in the beginning of the show they ask all the kids to come on stage and they give them a mini hula lesson.

They have some fun humor ( especially for married couples) in the show and I believe the same or many of the same dancers have been in the show for years.

The location is excellent, set right on the beach and has real bathrooms right behind the stage so it's easy to jet into the rest room and not miss much of the show.

The view is beautiful but it gets dark by the end of the show, so take photos early if you want to. The flash doesn't help much.. as you will see from the photos I will post.

Also, they have a lovely grass area where the kids can play behind the tables as to not distract from the show.

It's set right above the beach, and they offer to take your photos for a small price that you can buy when the show is over, they take the photos of you when you arrive.

If you don't get there early you will find a lot of the hot food is only warm and it gets picked over even though they try to replenish it. Also, it looks like a lot more food but they have the same thing on each side.

And.. I'm a vegetarian for the most part so roasted pig is not appealing at all to me.

The service has always been pretty good and the staff has been friendly.

If you are picky about foods and don't like the buffet idea, you can eat a nice meal right next door at Humuhumunukunukuapua'a and then head over when the show is starting .. only get there on time or you will be seated in the back.

The fire show is excellent too.. just a classic luau. Worth the price.

Sorry for any typos. I'm multi-tasking as I write this. I have 4 kids...

If you thought this was helpful please check that little button that says so, it makes me feel good to know I'm helping people and not doing all this typing for nothing. Mahalo!

Very good performance and excellent food. The only disappointment was that it was inside because there was a chance if rain. They didn't tell us it was going to be inside otherwise I would have requested to go another day. Other than that the show was really cool and again, the food was stellar!
