Description: The Molokini Bar & Grille, located at Makena Beach & Golf Resort, is a premier dining experience offering inspired island cuisine at an unmatched value. Under the direction of Chef De Cuisine Kurt Lemeries, the menu takes a non-traditional approach to American comfort food, infusing fresh local ingredients, combining elements of Hawaii regional cuisine and presenting new taste profiles that will both surprise and satisfy. Selections include its popular Cilantro and Macadamia Nut Crusted MahiMahi or the famed Crispy Molokai Potato Wrapped Lobster Salad. Featuring nightly live entertainment, take advantage of the restaurant's happy hour specials, nightly special menus, like Lobster Fest on Tuesdays and Thursday, or famed Sunday Brunch.

The Molokini Bar & Grill is located in the Makena Beach & Golf Resort (formerly the Maui Prince Hotel). The restaurant is well known for its Sundays only Brunch ($40) combined with nice views so we decided to check it out.

The restaurant space itself is HUGE. There is enough space for two or three restaurants. Windows make up the entire wall facing the golf course and ocean. There isn't really a bad seat in the house in terms of having a view. Anthony and Debbie served our area and did an excellent job of providing beverage service, keeping our table cleared, and supplied with clean utensils. Many buffets make you keep your used utensils after each course, only removing dirty plates.

I want to compliment the management that there aren't any bus or server stations located in the dining room. This is nice for customers because no one will be seated next to a busy work area (bus station with clatterig and dirty dishes). However the servers and busboys have a long hike to deliver dirty dishes to the dish room (all carried by hand, not in bus tubs). The lack of plastic bus tubs in the dining room provides a much nicer experience for the customers (and more work for the servers)

There are no less than 5 buffet lines at the Molokini's Sunday brunch. A cold bar with fish and salads. Two hot lines with breakfast meats, eggs, rice, fish, chicken, pancakes, french toast, and on and on. A fourth line has sushi and ham and roast beef carving. The fifth line is for desert.

The quality of the food is very good. Not a lot of originality, but everything we tried seemed fresh with a good taste. We brought our appetites but didn't come close to trying every dish offered. Food Coma Alert.

For some the value might depend, in part, on how much you could eat in relationship to the cost. For me, the value was a combination of the food quality (very good), the view (very good), and the service (excellent for a buffet) provided by Anthony and Debbie.

An added plus is that there is a nice garden area outside the restaurant downstairs. This is good for families because when the kids are finished eating, they can run around outside while the adults at last can relax at the table. If you want a brunch with a wide selection of good to high quality food with nice views, then this is the place for you.

I'm not going to waste much more time on this place. We were a party of 9 celebrating a wedding. I ordered a bottle of champagne and 2 glasses of non-alcoholic juice for the kids to partake in the toast. I was told they don't have any non-alcoholic juice and the waitor was off. When he finally showerd back up we asked for two Shirly Temples in champagne flutes. They brought those and I was left wondering why the waitor didn't make any attempt to help me find something that would work. Then, I ordered a bottle of wine to go with our meals. Quite a while later he told me they didn't have that wine and he was off again. I would expect waitor to help me find a similar wine, but no, he was gone. When I got his attention again to order a different bottle of wine, he informed me that the bartender had found the origional. Very dissappointing.

This restaurant had great quality food. I had a steak with lobster tail which was delicious and satisfying. My husband had a steak, which he enjoyed. There is a nice bar and lounge area with live music. Overall this place had a lovely classy, but relaxing atmosphere.

We made reservations and ate here for their beautiful Sunday Brunch, which was voted the best on the island, and we agree! Lots of seafood on the buffet, and the best cream cheese blueberry french toast we have ever had. The service was also excellent!

We stayed at Makena Resort and although it is the only restaurant at the resort it is definitely worth going to. They have different specials every night and a nice happy hour. The staff and service here cannot be beat.
