Another gorgeous Wailea Beach -- just be prepared for the prolific number of condo/hotel guests who frequent this area and use the walking trails.

This beach sits in front of the Andaz hotel.
The hotel provides chairs and towels for their guests. The beach seems to be mostly hotel guests, which keeps it clean, quiet and beautiful.
There is no hotel service on the beach (food or beverage).
The hotel has various water sports rental equipment and a talented group of "beach fun" professionals to help you enjoy your day.
Nice for floating in the water or snorkeling the reefs that border the beach.
Sometimes, you'll even see a turtle cruising by near the shore break!

The new Andaz hotel has taken over what used to be a nice beach. Now it is just covered with their umbrellas, loungers, kayaks, etc. Hardly anywhere for non-guests to sit. Bye, bye paradise.

After spending a lot of time at some other beaches known for snorkeling, we tried Mokapu Beach for the first time. What an awesome beach! Great coral reef that has lots of fish, and other sea creatures to watch, even an occasional sea turtle! Very pretty beach to sit and relax, not a huge shore break makes it great for kids too. Located in the Wailea area of Maui, has small parking lot so get there early to assure a spot. Showers, rest rooms and changing area available

As long as there isn't a storm that has just passed, or is on the way (resulting in the water churning up the sand and reduced visibility), Mokapu offers some interesting coral reefs right near the shore, and the chance to see all sorts of marine life, including sea turtles.
The shore-break is not as violent as at Big Beach, and if you happen to be staying at the nearby hotel, you may get an opportunity to go out for a tour in the outrigger canoes with a local guide who can give a lot of insight and history to this beautiful part of Maui.
