We had a truly remarkable trip to Maui at the Four Seasons. Our room attendant was one of the best ever (Maria) and we never lacked anything we needed. Service at the Four Seasons is truly special.

Our concierge, Kay, put together one of the best one day trips we have ever had. First, she got us a jeep for the day (our last day). We started at the sunrise over Haleakala. The words beautiful and mesmerizing do not do this view justice. We had original Hawaiian chants from one of the rangers welcoming the sun and all that it brings. It was the longest stretch of orange/purple/red we had ever seen on the horizon. Of course, we’ve never seen it from over 10,000.00 feet up while overlooking a crater atop the island of Maui, either.

We then stopped to have breakfast overlooking the Halekala valley at the place Kay had recommended. Best breakfast of the trip (although the Kihei Café was a close second!)—and another spectacular view.

That trip is worth the early rise and winding trip up the volcano!
Then she directed us over on backroads to a little cowboy town to buy some doughnuts at the famous Komoda bakery in Makawao. Amazing stuff…

We then wound our way up to the northern coast near the village of Paia. We shopped in some local artist galleries and then hiked up to see two beautiful waterfalls not far from the coast. Again, remarkable beauty (and some great fish tacos—can’t remember the name of the café).

After that adventure we headed back down to the other side of the island to try and find some local surf. Per Kay’s instructions, we stopped in Kihei and we found some great local “moderate” waves (I’m not a professional by any means). Another great stop! I had the longest surfing rides of my career (by career, I mean the 12 other times I’ve surfed at various spots, including the time I almost drowned in Costa Rica—another story though).

Bottom line, we had an early (4:15am start), exhilarating, and brilliant day and were drinking a cocktail by 5pm back at the Four Seasons. We could not have done it without the help of Kay at the concierge desk. Yes, we brought her some of the famous Makawao doughnuts from the Komoda Bakery!

Enjoy!

This hotel will raise the bar for any other trip in the future. I think I have become a Four Seasons snob. The service and accomondations were top notch. Beautiful hotel and amazing staff. We spent 4 days at the Grand Waliea before coming here and it made that look like a Holiday Inn. Worth the splurge. Amazing food and pool/beach service. Have a ginger cucumber margarita for me, I miss them;)

We had a wonderful Spring Break vacation with our family of 5 at the Four Seasons Maui. We stayed in a garden view one bedroom suite, which was perfect for my wife and I and our kids aged, 9, 12 and 14.

Really loved the island of Maui, Wailea and the resort. In general, service was top notch. In order of most to least impressive; the valet/motor court crew was hands down the most impressive, they were extremely helpful. Next, the concierge staff was very helpful, including one time when we were stuck behind an accident (you'll see a lot of those on Maui) trying to reach a Luau. The guys at the beach and the watersports shack were also very nice, we did scuba diving and snorkeling, and the dive instructors were great. Restaurant staff was good, nice servers, very personable. No problems with house keeping, although it would have been nice to have the customary chocolates at turn down service!

Pool service was less impressive. They definitely did not seem to be enjoying themselves and it showed in their service. They were also talking (=complaining) about other guests. Now I'm sure that they have to deal with quite some characters, but still that should not happen. This was both at the general and serenity pool.

The game room was very nice, we enjoyed hanging out there with our kids. It's great that you don't get nickel and dimed there and the games and game computers are free. Same with the cabanas, they are free and first come first serve. I hate the decked out (=tv) cabanas you see at some resorts that you have to pay for.

The food quality needs to be fixed. We had dinner at Duo and Ferraro's which was actually good. Breakfast at Duo's is just ok, but since you will be paying $37 per person, you definitely expect more. The food at the pool was flat out disappointing. Very little creativity on the menu, and then they managed to scale down the actual end product from that. If I remember correctly, a kid's hot dog is $15, which is fine and to be expected, however please add a small fruit cup or something to it. Same with the grown up food. One afternoon we ordered some kind of hummus platter ($20+) and it barely met the 'airport marriott' standard (which is the absolute low for me in hospitality food). I happened to stay at the St Julien in Boulder and Fontainebleau in Miami Beach the weeks after my visit to the FS Maui, and their food ran circles around the FS many times.

So, overall great stay, lots of fun, recommend it, but the food quality needs to raised.

We love this hotel. Our family has been going for 14 years. It just feels like home. No pressure to do anything. Your never lined up like cattle by there pool. Coffee is out every morning at 5:00am. The exercise equipment is outside looking at the view. The most beautiful setting, incredible!

This resort is wonderful. The food, room, service, everything is superb. It deserves every accolade it gets. The bathroom was incredible. Even had a form to fill out as to what time the room should be serviced which we didn't notice until the last day1

We have loved every moment of our stay at the Four Seasons. It is the first of two stops on our honeymoon and we doubt the next place will be able to hold a candle to this. The grounds are stunning, the staff is kind and on-the-spot, the beach is pretty and uncrowded, and the amenities are exactly what you would hope for to help it feel like your home away from home. The beds are the best, the balconies are generously-sized, and the whole place feels very well thought out. Even if there are a lot of people on the grounds, it never feels that way due to good architecture and great spatial planning. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone and we have been 100% satisfied with our stay.
