“Spacious rooms and a view to die for!!”
Reviewed 29 November 2013

Let's start by arrival, very warm welcome. Attentive staff help unload car, provided welcome drinks and beautiful lais. We had an ocean view room on the 6th floor that was absolutely breathtaking. The patio stretched the length of the whole room. You could literally lay in bed and see other islands. The rooms were HUGE!! absolutely huge! The carpet was a little grimy and there was a small issue with ants in the bathroom but they were more than welcome to deal with the ants. We loved the food from every where we ate on property. The little store was very nice to have, not too overpriced. I really want to applaud the way they deal with food allergies. My son is deathly allergic to nuts. When we first got there, they fill out some sort of thing where anything ordered by us is screened and the cooking is overseen by a manager to ensure his food was safe. That was a huge relief in the land of macadamia nuts!! Not sure why every other kid these days have food allergies, but it is great to see a hotel set up and help the 1 in 13 families dealing with the nightmare. It sure makes traveling less stressful!

The grounds were absolutely beautiful!! Everywhere you looked, it was well kept. The beach was by far one of the best we have been to. We travel quite a bit and have been to many places. You just cannot beat the view. The sand was a beautiful, soft powdery sand. It was just heaven! The pool was very nice and my children loved the waterside.

We used the kid's club once and just loved it. My kids made volcanos on the beach, learned to count in Hawaiian, got a Hawaiian name, made a ton of crafts, and made new friends. And that was just one morning. Big love for the kids club!!

My only complaint would be the number of spots reserved for sale. We were there for 6 days and we only saw someone buy a spot once or twice. They are wildly overpriced and take up much of the pool deck. You shouldn't go to a nice hotel and not be able to find a place to sit. It was annoying to not be able to sit by the pool while there were about 30 open chairs that were not being used. We have been to other places that do this, it's not uncommon. But the number of them was ridiculous. If you have guests that have no where to sit, you should open some of those areas. That truly is my only complaint. Everything else was amazing. The staff was great. It wasn't over the top helpful, like I have experienced at some of the other Fairmont locations or other high end hotels but the location and size of the room certainly balance that out. And the view!! The view was the most amazing thing of all! I'd go back in a heartbeat!! But Fairmont, please consider opening up more spots by the pool. Going on vacation and having no where to sit is no fun.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor! There are washers and dryers for use, which was so nice to dry suits before...

Green Features: Loved the salt treated pool! So nice not to have stinky chlorine swimsuits!

Aloha and thank you for your review. We understand that vacationing with children who have severe allergies can be both challenging and worrisome, which is why we take allergies very seriously and have developed a program that ensures no cross contamination. We’re delighted that you enjoyed the spaciousness of the suites and your kids especially loved the Keiki Lani Kids Club. However we do regret that you were disappointed with the poolside cabana rentals. Please be assured your feedback will be shared. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back in the future.

We recently booked a room at the Kia Lani. I had unfortunately injured myself just prior to our departure and on crutches. I let the hotel know about the mishap before we left. The hotel ( Thank you Sousa) upgraded us to a room more central to assist with my mobility issue. I can not say how much this meant to us under the circumstances. I could get to the pool and had a wonderful view of the property. The people at this hotel are caring and want to make guests feel like family. The bell staff are great -- and in particular - Paul who was the one who showed us to our room, he spent the time and showed us the area - not rushed..( showing us from our balcony) the beautiful area and what it had to offer. Special thanks to Niko who was our contact prior to our visit to the hotel. I enjoyed meeting you and seeing your smile. I didnt want to leave.
We took in the outrigger canoe trip - it is free for quests. Book ahead as it fills up quickly and only runs during the morning hours. I was excited about the opportunity . We took it on our very last day. Its an hour trip on the ocean and something we would recommend, the only disappointing part was that while we were on the trip the two stafff canoers decided to stop the trip and visit with one of their friends paddling the ocean for 10-15 minutes while we were stationary onboard. Loved the concept, and would highly recomment the opportunity otherwise.
Overall - Great work by a wonderful team at this hotel.. This hotel has 3 pools, a swim up bar, waterslide, great beach, ocean front walk way and a shuttle service to many local areas. The rooms - are not rooms...they are suites. ENJOY

This place was...indescribable. Every need was met at every moment. The restaurants were excellent, the pools were excellent, the beach was excellent, and the SERVICE above all else was excellent. It's a little too bad that there are things that are included for an unexpectedly steep fee that other hotels include for free - like WiFi and parking. Still, we felt pampered every moment. It's quite an experience!

Room Tip: ALL the rooms are good.

I recently stayed at this hotel and was very impressed. The hotel layout is beautiful as are the rooms. The staff were all very friendly and we took an upgrade (at a discounted price) on check in. The ocean view room was excellent, very spacious and with a great view as expected. The bathroom was huge and there was a separate living room area as well. The beach is nice with great snorkelling right out the front of the hotel with lots of turtles and fish.

The hotel seemed quite quiet the week we were there, but it was perfects for couples with the adults only pool also an added bonus. We opted out of the buffet breakfast and ended up eating at the onsite cafe which was pretty good. We ate dinner at the two restaurants during our stay and both were excellent.

Overall, the hotel is nice, but it is expensive. There is an added surcharge for most of the activities like kayaking, so it does add up. Pretty good for couples and there seemed to be a few families around as well.

We loved our spacious suite and balcony, the lovely grounds and ambiance, boogie boarding on Polo Beach, complimentary washer/drier on our floor, great service and outstanding new Ko restaurant. Looking forward to returning and trying the new spa. Highly recommend.

this is a great resort for families. we took our 9 month old there and we were a bit nervous, but when we got there we saw babies and toddlers everywhere! it was great. the rooms are all suites, so there is a lot of room for families. THE FOOD IS EXPENSIVE! the resort and the amenities are great, but with all nice resorts the food was really expensive.

My husband and I stayed here in 09 and thought it was time for a return visit. First and foremost was the OUTSTANDING service we received while checking in. Luz was not only incredibly friendly but went out of her way to help us with a few special requirements we had and looked after us throughout our stay. The villa we stayed in was great, lots of space and very handy having a washer and dryer. The kitchen had everything you need and the plunge pool was nice to hang out at.
The food at both Nicks fish market and at Ko was fantastic but highly recommend the lobster tempura at Ko, I will dream about it for years to come.
All in all a great place to stay with friendly and helpful staff.
