“Best hotel in Maui”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

We've stayed in several other top resorts in Kapalua and Kaanapali and like the Kea Lani the best. The grounds are amazing, the atmosphere is relaxed, the views are splendid, and the staff is great. We'll be back!

Bed had a large ridge down the center that actually caused you to roll to the edge. Wouldn't have this bed in my home for guests.

My family and I (7 in total) stayed at the Kea Lani from June 10 - June20th 2014. When we arrived the staff welcomed us and had us in our rooms in just a few minutes. What a great touch as they had sweets and chocolates waiting for us in the room, as we were celebrating our 30th anniversary. The first morning we had the breakfast at the Kea Lani Restaurant. They offer a full breakfast menu and also 2 different buffets - great food with a great view.

The beach was in perfect condition and the attendants were exceptional and attentive making sure we had umbrellas, towels, chairs and knew everything we could do at the beach - boogie boards, snorkeling, kayaks, canoe tour and what we liked to do most, just playing in the warm ocean.

We also ate at the Polo Grill and the Ko Restaurant several times. The food at the Ko was first class as well as the service and you can't beat the sunset views. The Polo Grill is quick and easy and also has great food and drinks. There really is no reason to leave the resort. The area is quieter and has much less traffic than the north side of the island and we were treated to a beautiful sunset every night.

The rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day and the turn down service at night is a nice touch. Every employee we met was exceptionally nice and also very competent.

Thank you to everyone at the Kea Lani, you made our vacation a total success.

I had an amazing stay at the Fairmont. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. There is no pretentiousness. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The beach is wonderful and spacious. I have never seen such beautiful sunsets. Do definitely book a free 1 hr kayak trip provided by the hotel. I went at 6 am while the sun is mild and water is calm. We saw lots of fish and turtles floating in the water coming up for air. It was incredible to see the turtles in their natural habitat.

Nick's Fishmarket Restaurant on hotel property was fantastic. I had hamachi catch of the day. It was by far the best seafood dish I have ever had rivaled only by the best restaurant in town Mama's Fish House (that place was perfection!).

There is a hotel shuttle that connects you to the nearby hotels such as Four Seasons and the Grand Wailea as well as to the Wailea shops. You can also walk to these placed along the beach on a paved walkway. I saw lots of people jogging there as well.

The rooms in the hotel are huge. I think all the rooms are suites. The hotel provides complimentary bottles water and sun block among other things.

It is easy to rent a car from the hotel for trips such as to the Haleakala State Park (FYI GPS gets confused on the way to Haleakala and you may get lost. It is better to use a map).

So overall my stay was fantastic. I would definitely come back to this hotel. It is perfect for families, couples and solo travelers!

This is my go to hotel in Maui. Love the location, the service, the rooms and amenities. My adult girls and I are able to stay in one room and not feel cramped. The hotel has a fridge and coffee maker in the room. In addition, bottled water is offered at no charge. The staff is always gracious and amazing! Wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Maui.

First class from the lei and tropical drink greeting to turn down service with chocolates. The hotel provides amazing service. Every staff member was kind and helpful. We traveled with our almost two year old. The all-suite hotel is perfect for families. We stopped at the grocery store on the way from the airport and picked up microwavable foods for the little one and assorted drink and snacks. The room has a refrigerator, sink, coffee maker and microwave. Only glasses and coffee mugs are provided (no plates, silverware, etc...). We were able to get a few paper ones from the little market on-site. Housekeeping promptly brought up dish soap (and a sponge even though I didn't think to ask) so we were able to wash sippy cups. There is a Safeway right outside of Wailea - maybe a 10 minute drive if you need to restock anything. Also, the Whalers General Store a two minute drive, has most needs and very good quick meals to go. Only problem we encountered was housekeeping coming mid-late afternoon everyday. Finally we called and requested morning housekeeping as afternoon is always nap time and they were happy to accommodate our request. The concierge booked a babysitter for us and she was fantastic! The shallow kiddie pool was perfect for our daughter to sit and splash in. Water slide was fun for older kids, probably 5+. The beach was basically private to the hotel and very nice. The waves were fairly strong when we were there and we wished we had brought a life-jacket rather than just the "puddle jumper" floaties. It is a bit of walk to the beach as you have to walk all the way through the pool area and past the villas. It's a beautiful walk though. Just don't forget anything =) Suncreen and water are provided at the pool. The hotel was very kid friendly, but not overrun with children. I would stay there without kids too. We also enjoyed walking over to the Four Seasons and Grand Wailea for a few meals. Gorgeous paved walkway, about 20-30 minutes. The water was also a bit calmer on their beach so we swam there one morning. The suites made the Fairmont the obvious choice for us over the Four Seasons and Grand Wailea. Also, the Grand Wailea seemed a bit outdated when we walked through if you are debating the two, though the pool area looked very fun for kids.

Room Tip: We booked a partial ocean view and were nicely upgraded to full ocean view. Beautiful! Also, join th...

All the rooms are suites so ideal for family or larger groups. We had two queens in the bedroom and a queen pull-out in the living room so more than enough room for a family of four. Our lanai overlooked the adult only pool and the gardens. The compound is quite spread out but still has an intimate feel due to the wonderful people working here. My boys loved the pools (3) and beach. The compound is beautifully landscaped and great for walking around. There is a seawall that connects most of the resorts so makes a fantastic walk by the ocean, esp at sunset or sunrise. We participated in the complimentary Hawaiian Canoe experience, which we booked as soon as we made our hotel reservation because the times fill up fast, and there is an age requirement (min 10 years). Well worth the 6 am time slot as we were met by 2 wonderful local guides and got to paddle in a genuine 6 person Hawaiian canoe and watched the sunrise over the ocean and observe plenty of ocean life through the crystal clear water. The award winner Ko Restaurant at the hotel is exceptional. Definitely worthy of at least one visit. Complimentary shuttle service to local restaurants and shopping malls.
