My husband and I stayed at Casa Divina in October 2012 after our Galapagos cruise. We were picked up (and returned) right on time at our Quito hotel by a smiling Alex in a new truck. It is a beautiful drive as others have said, however, as you get closer to the lodge the roads will become very rocky and narrow, you’ll cross a very narrow bridge that will make you hold your breath the first time or two when you ride over it. But not to worry, you will soon know that the pictures you see here on Trip Advisor are representative of the warm beautiful home of Casa Divina.
Molly’s food is top notch. Be sure to let her know of any special food restrictions. Her lemongrass tea is wonderful – she runs out to the garden for fresh lemongrass for every pot! Even her yogurt is homemade. The breakfast and dinners were great – everything has a special touch.
We stayed in the last upper room and loved the sounds of nature as we slept. It is very open, but it was fine for us since we were the only guests. The view is nice all around. We would have loved bananas or bird food within view of the balcony like they have off the main building, as it was such a treat watching all the colorful birds visit the area. The bed and linens were nice and comfortable, the bathroom spacious, and there was plenty of hot water. There is a fan and some snacks on the table for purchase. The woodwork in the rooms and main building left us in awe.
We signed up for the Discovering Mindo package. Efrain was a great guide, very patient, very knowledgeable, very good English. I recommend requesting him by name for the tours. Visitors should note that there is a LOT of walking in Mindo, and everything is UP or DOWN, not flat. My husband did become ill on our trip here so we modified our package to one that was less strenuous, and enjoyed every bit of it, thanks to Efrain.
A big draw for us from previous reviewers was the birds and plants, and we were not disappointed. So many hummingbirds and toucanets!
We particularly loved the family, including two daughters home on a school break, and the dog and cat, the gardens, the small town feel of Mindo, etc. If you are looking for a private romantic getaway, this may not be the place, however, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Casa Divina to those who appreciate the warm, family-friendly service we received while staying here.

You will see informative signs posted throughout town about the effects of pollution and all households and businesses separate our waste into organic and non-organic bins. The young people from Mindo are proud of their town, their work and the opportunity to have an international experience in a small rural town.Although Mindo still has a long way to go in its development as an "eco-destination," change and progress are happening and it's exciting to be part of the process.
