We went to Napo based on reviews - what a place! All the previous reviews are accurate and I can only add our names to the list of Napo followers. Not only do you have luxury in the rain forest but the eco-concept is held true. It is the whole community that runs this lodge, bringing the biologists to give the expertise and translation. Each trip out you have a local ex-hunter and and naturalist to guide you - the perfect combination.
Any advice? If you swim in the lagoon don't put your head under - my husband got sick. Make sure you go on a night trip in canoe and walking - such a great experience. They don't advertise the wifi but it's fast and only $10 per day. You can't use any products for cleaning other than those provided to prevent pollution - so girls take some leave-in conditioner for your hair!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lagoon - there are 4 doubles and 1 2 room 'suite'

Napo is a dream. Add clarity, and avoid family strife by taking a pair of binoculars per person. Nobody wants to give up their binocs when they are looking at a monk saki monkey, potoo or a macaw.

Everything on this place is what you expect from similar places. Good, quality cabanas, quality english speaking guides, very good food and all from this place are just good people.

We were just 4 tourists there and I can't imagine with more visitors, maybe it lost it's uniqueness I felt then. Also, be careful - all the daily trips are almost always subordinated to weakest or oldest tourist in the group. So if you want something more adventurous, make sure you'll tell it before your daily walk will begin.

Room Tip: The best cabanas are the most closer to the river/lake.

We stayed five nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Everything was perfect, the silent canoes rides through the jungle were magical, the staff were welcoming, helpful and efficient, the cottage was comfortable, and the food was very good. Best of all was the guiding; we paid extra for a bird guide, shared with another couple, and he was terrific, finding us amazing birds, a herd of peccaries on the run, giant river otters, and nine different kinds of primates. I later learned that Roberto is considered one of the best bird guides in all of Ecuador, and I'd have to agree. He and Hugo were a great guiding team and we felt privileged to spend time with them. I talked to several of the other guides and was impressed with all of them. This lodge is run with pride, and it's a very special place.

a great place to stay for discovering the Ecuadorian Amazon. Excellent community and nature guides. Food is very good and various, especially the juices.
We had warm water at every time of the day, the rooms are very clean, service and kindness of all the staff is more than expected. Travel to and from the lodge is good organized.
Program is adapted to your need.
We recommend this place - as good as the best African lodges...

Room Tip: ask for the suites - rooms 15 and 16

The 4 hour trip to get there was fascinating, 2 hours by motor boat, 2 hours on a dug out canoe, our Naturalist guide pointed out all the flora ,fuana ,birds monkeys etc, just being in the Rainforest was a great experience, during the day ,very quite, at night a symphony of noise.
The Napo center was outstanding, our thatched hut had a comfortable bed, with netting, no a/c,locks on doors, tv ,actually could sleep 3, 2 beds the food was excellent, wake up call at 5 am took a little getting used to. our guide Luis, was fabulous..all in all a first rate experience, for the adventure traveler.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the lake

All huts are built to blend in with the nature, clean, spacious and cozy. An afternoon nap on the hammock after an early morning in the forest is refreshing. Sipping a glass of fresh juice amidst the silence while watching the sunset above the lake from the high tower is unforgettable.

The hospitality and service is excellent. The staff call guests by name which is special. Welcome drink is awaited as soon as guests first arrived and after hours in the forest. All meals are well prepared, fresh and delicious.

Local guide is very knowledgeable. Bird watching from the tower above canopy with the sound of howlers from distance is fascinating. Taking canoe and walking in the forest at night is wonderful.

I personally appreciate their water treatment and environment protecting policies as well as no noise pollution. No engine boat but canoe is used. It is important not to disturb but to respect the wildlife.

I definitely stay at Napo again on my next visit.
