We stayed here in the off season and were lucky enough to obtain an ocean front camping site with a view to die for. Location comes at a price. $50.NZ a night for a site overlooking these glorious islands in the sea. This was the most expensive camping site for the entire trip. Now for the rest. I would HATE to be camping here in high season. The facilities are quite minimal. The trek from the camping spots near the beach to the facilities ( toilets, showers, etc ) was considerable. There is a small block of toilets closer to the camping sites consisting of 4 ancient cubicles, so close together, requiring one to go the longer distance for privacy. For the price, these facilities are just not sufficient. The kichen looked really good. There was a BBQ area near the kitchen. I'm sure that if you stayed in a cabin it would be quite different. Hahei off season has the view and a great walk. No real food to speak of, so come with your own supplies.
