This has got to be one of the best beaches in the world. Stayed in a motor home by the side of the beach in this well maintained site with every amenity. A shop on site would have been useful though. Friendly, informative staff and individual sites had good amount of space. The situation was amazing with stunning views. Our idea of paradise.

Thank you for noting our Hahei paradise! The views from the Beachfront Camper-van sites bring people from far and wide. With the beach always changing and beautiful on every occasion, we can see why! As the Hahei General Store is such a short walk away, we haven't felt the need to open our own. We appreciate your positive description of our Resort.

Stayed for four nights in the new Beach Bungalows. Absolute luxury holiday! Wonderful people, perfect accommodation (like a home-away-from-home) all the mod con's to make a holiday easy and stress free! Quiet and relaxed, fall asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. Lovely facilities and helpful, friendly staff.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased you could experience our brand new Beach Bungalows, and found them to be so perfectly suitable. We are sure they'll be a popular choice for families and those who like the space and luxury of a modern home. Being just behind the dunes ensures your holiday is all about the beach and the outdoors, in every season.

One of the better campgrounds we have stayed at in New Zealand. The beach itself is stunning and well suited to young children. The waves are generally small enough that young children will find a place to paddle yet adults and older children at times can body surf a wave in. We stayed at a powered site in D block. The site was larger than many others and we had space around our tent. The beach is just over the sand dunes. The facilities have everything you need and were not too crowded during our stay in Late January. Although isolated there are a number of quaint attractions within an hours drive to fill in the day if you choose to escape the beach. Has options of comfort from non-powered tent sites to motel units with sea view. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Unless you are wiling to rough it with a beach front DOC site this would be my pick of the Coromandel.

Thank you. Late January suits many families as we have a little more space, and the queues for the showers are shorter! We're centrally located for many Coromandel day trips. Our reception staff are happy to help you plan your day. For those tenting, C and D blocks just behind the dunes are the most popular, there's a range of accommodation for those choosing not to camp.

This is a great place to take kids camping, the beach is safe and the camping ground is very family orientated. We have been camping here for the past 18 years and our kids have made friends with other families like us who go every year.
The staff are all very friendly and approachable.
I would highly recommend Hahei Holiday Resort as a place to camp especially if you love the beach as much as we do :-) The snorkeling and diving is awesome and depending on the sea so is the boogie boarding.

We love the fact your group travels such a distance to see us each year. As you've noted, we focus strongly on being family friendly. We want our campers to enjoy the social atmosphere of summer camping in a safe environment. See you next January!

My husband and I had stayed here previously in one of the garden villas and decided to come back and treat ourselves with a stay in one of the sea view villas for our honeymoon. The villas are extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need and make them ideal to self-cater with large fridge/freezer, kitchen, and even own bbq on patio outside. Loads of bedding options make these villas ideal for families or to invite guests to stay for a night. The beautiful hahei beach front is visible from the front windows and upstairs deck, and only a few metres stroll away over the sand dunes. Well kept, clean and tidy. Would love to stay again...and will bring friends next time to use the extra beds!!

I'm not a camper, by any means!! So we booked into the Cottage at the Hahei Holiday Resort - PERFECT. It's a three bedroom, full kitchen, with bath, shower, toilet. We had a fenced off area to ourselves. So, this is camping - without the sharing of laundry, ablutions, kitchen, etc. Only a hop, skip and a jump away from the beach. RECOMMENDED. And we'll be back!

Thank you! The cottage is great. The Beach Bungalows are a newer option closer to the beach, however, the Cottage has a real 'camping feel' and is a comfortable option for larger families wanting safe boundaries . We'll see you next time.

I spent several days in a cabin at this charming campground and resort. You can bring a tent or a camper or you can rent a well furnished cabin or apartment suite. They have accommodations for every budget - right on the dunes beside the beach. The beach is clean and good for swimming, but even better is the kayak safaris that are organized each morning. A nice trail hike of about an hour leads to Cathedral Cove, one of the most charming in the area. Hot springs are only a half hour drive away. Worth seeing, but a bit crowded and anticlimactic.

Room Tip: The small cabins are quite adequate, but for the nice suites you have to pay. If you're in a cam...
